Dilemma... I have permits for most of the US. But not for NY. I have a load to Albany area that delivers Sunday AM. I ordered temp trip permits yesterday, but vendor screwed up and they didnt get issued. Cant get them issued until Monday. There is a $500 late fee for this receiver. Is the penalty for running without permit anywhere near that price?

The chances of getting caught in NY on a Sunday are slim to none. Fines in most states are around 200-300$ so I would count on NY being well over 500$
I wouldn't even think twice though. Load and roll driver then get the heck out.

its way more than $500 and when they shut you down until monday your still going to pay that $500 late fee!!! Not sure up there but Texas was $2,400 i had a driver get one a few years back somewhere along the line he was told you can hang off a trailer a foot on each side :biggrin_25513: So he was shut down until i got a permit that monday

Funny how they can issues tickets 24/7, yet they can't issue the paperwork to avoid tickets 24/7

I dunno about NY, but I know CT its a 500 dollar fine and you still have to get thhe stupid permit. Company I used to work for was only registered to run PA. Being young and dumb, I would go wherever I was told until I got pinched in Danbury CT. But NY I never had a problem, and on a Sunday, I'd do what the other poster said and load and go. Then get the flock outta there...

Nothing will be going on for a weekend, but the inspection stations and rest areas around Albany get hot come daylight on Monday. Where are you going and with what type of load (van, flat, tank etc)?

Edit: just noticed your delivery was for Sunday AM. Get here in the dark, find a truckstop, and leave in the dark. Around the Albany area there are two Pilots that aren't too crowded of a weekend... off US-9 just north of I-90 in Schodack, or off I-88 immediately before I-90 tollbooth in Rotterdam. Get in, get unloaded, get back out of NY if you aren't apportioned here. Wouldn't want to find out the fine :)

Thank for all of you advise everyone! I ended up rolling in at night, delivering the load at 0400 and sitting up the road in New Baltimore at the truck stop there until Monday morning. The vendor I requested the permits thru issued them first thing in the morning on Monday, but the dates and times were from Monday 0700. Reloaded out of area and left the state immediately! Don't think I will ever return to NY for less than $3/ mile. Just not worth the hassle and the loads leaving NY don't pay much over a buck a mile!
