...and going back to construction and a normal life
Would like to pass along what I learned
-Doing local P&D that pays by the hour and gets you home everyday can be stressful and hard on your body but you can make a living and if you're interested in driving for a living it's worth giving it a go
-Doing OTR paid-by-the-mile is really only worth it if you're already homeless and want a bunk that provides more privacy than the local shelter but are willing to compromise on the cleanliness of washroom facilities available to you
Hope this helps someone out, and best of luck to you

Wow! You really have got a downer on trucking haven't you? No wonder you are glad to get out of it but of course not everyone shares you negative attitude. I have been OTR for 20yrs and still loving it.
For the record I have been married to my cute little wife for the last 19 of those years and we have brought 3 kids up.
P.s I ain't ever had to compromise on cleanliness or hygiene either.Coolbreeze Thanks this. -
i stopped driving after 9 months with the same sediment...... After a million and a half miles, i'm glad i went back, love looking out that windshield
-
Sorry you feel that way, and hope things work out for you in the construction field.
if you ever think about coming back to trucking, get into trucking in the oilfield. Leave cheap freight to cheap drivers. -
OTR= Homeless??? Negative attitude bud!!! I've been in the Oilfield for 10 yrs from doing infield work with being (HOME) every nite to living out on the road for a week or better. I perfer living on the road!! It's great, while still owning a home and being married. lol

Homeless?? My 2 story chalet and 40 by 30 garage doesn't pass? This is not a "game" type job or just one big vacation. Trucking is hard but rewarding. Sounds like your making the right decision.

Must be nice to have construction work where you live. thats why i got into trucking because the construction industry was so slow by me
-
Heck I'm training a new driver now, was a contractor for custom homes.
