Yeah. I wasnt clear on that. Whatever ccc was, was meaning that I didnt know what their trucks are governed at. He runs solo & works for a company called Gana trucking. They own the trucks he drives for. Gana has a contract with Crete Carrier. He runs solo. I actually asked him if he wanted to run teams & he said absolutely not. Dont know if they're hiring, they have dump trucks also & since I dont have exp, they offered me that for 12 bucks an hour. No thanks. Sorry, getting off topic.

did not go to wal-mart for several reasons. insurance is basically a 10,000 dollar deductable.the same as store employees not that i am better than them just if you want to know about their plan ask a store employee.2. 5 day work week wed thru sunday no change in that schedule.3. so tight lipped about anything as far as pay what to expect being a new hire, try to ask a simple question about that and you are told they are conducting the interview not you. well thats not true i am also interviewing wal-mart and of all things took my physical[ had to or its like a refusal to take a drug test] now i just did not fit and thats not saying you cant there are better jobs but its a good job for intermediate employment and a respected employer.great if you come from a for hire carrier. thanks

The bolded part of the post above yours, if true, would cause me to take a pause, even if it was for an $80,000 job. If they have that attitude during the interview process, what are they like if/when you are actually employed by them? The poster is right, a job interview is a 2 way street. Technically, you are both interviewing each other to see if there is a good fit for the position.

I worked one Christmas doing some pt driving for wal-Mart before I shipped out pre Sept 11 2001 and they treated even a temp driver with much respect and the local runs were great. They offered me FT after Christmas but could not as I had my Army duties...I figured they were good to drive for as a career...

I worked a month unloading trucks for WalMart. then I transferred to being a cashier. All the truck drivers I met were very happy with their jobs. Most had been with WM for over 15 years.

To the WalMart haters: So, you won't shop at Walmart because they sell stuff made in other countries? Tell me a store that has mostly everything and that everything is made in the USA.

Without getting into specifics, 100k is about right for a full time (5 1/2 day) driver who ain't lazy. The 3 million mile truck is a truck nobody else drives except that driver. Every other truck in the fleet, assigned or not, will get used on the drivers days off if needed.

Most truck drivers will not "fit in" at Wal Mart. They run the show, but they pay you well to do what they want you to when they want you to do it. A lot of drivers find it to confining.....for lack of a better word. They would rather make less and feel more independent. Wal Mart is very picky about the drivers they hire. Most applicants don't make the final cut. Especially if they think they are doing the interview...........!

I have recently interviewed with Walmart for a driving position and everyone I met at Walmart was extremely friendly and professional. As far as the pay and benefits, they didn't bring it up and I didn't ask. It is a given that they treat their drivers well and compensate them well, or they wouldn't have drivers with 20, 30 and 40+ years safe driving working for them, or trying to work for them. From what I have been told, they will discuss the compensation and benefits package in the second interview. While money is important, it isn't the only thing in life. Any Walmart driver I have ever spoken to in my career has spoken first about being treated with respect and that is my number one reason for wanting to drive for them. I am sure it is not always perfect there, but it is a JOB, and I don't expect it to be perfect, but that's where the great pay comes in.
