I have been following a few threads on both companies for the past couple of months. I am currently in the Army and have about a year left before I transition out. This was my second period of active duty. I previously had 7 years in the Navy. Anywho, knowing that a good transition requires the 6 P method ( Prior Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance) I am also aware that every company has its b.s.. Its the amount of b.s. that you can handle and still perform. I was in law enforcement for five years prior to my Army adventure. I have contacted recruiters of both companies and asked about training programs, pay, freight lanes in my hiring area and the like. Notice I did not ask about home time. I am well aware that home time is NOT the priority for companies. The load IS the priority and takes precedence. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this subject of course. My wife and I have had the home time conversation at length many times in the last few months. She grew up with a truck driver in the family and being married to the military she understands the mission is first. She plainly stated " I don't plan to see you for the first year". Obviously that is a slight exaggeration but it hit the nail on the head and confirmed that she is aware of whats to come.
I would like to get some advice and thoughts from current drivers of both Maverick and TMC. I know there are always pro's and con's to each company. I am stuck between the two with a few other companies on the list close behind.

Maverick has me in every respect over TMC with the exception of TMC having the VA OJT program. The shiny black and chrome is attractive but doesn't pay the bills.

Sorry for the long post...just trying to give some background and what I am looking for as far as information.....Stay safe out there.....

First off, thanks for your service to this great country my friend. It's appreciated! If it were me, I'd probably pick Maverick.Pretty sure you're in a good area for their lanes, and I've read a whole lot less bad about them than any other skateboard company. Boyd is also in your neck of the woods, and may well be worth a look/see on your part? Irregardless, good luck and I think you're going to be OK, judging by the attitude and expectations you seem to be going into this with.:biggrin_25525:

First off thank you for YOUR support! I am keeping Boyd on my list as well. I am little too far south for them right now but I am contemplating a move after i get out that would put me right in their lane as well.
I have read a few threads on here just just make me wonder whats the world coming to. I mean I completely understand wanting to be home when you are ready for a break....but sometimes you have to bite the bullet. I worked a K-9 prior to the Army for five years. Worked 12 hr shifts, 4 days on 3 days off...then vice versa the next week. Plus a 24 hr call out. There are times it sucks....but there are times its great. That is my outlook with every job I have had. Which has only been 3 in the last 15 years. There is NOTHING owed to anybody in this world. You either earn it or do without.

You will probably like flatbedding, I did it for awhile and liked it.
Since you're moving, there's a company many don't know about; Tribe Transport in Cleveland, GA. It's reefer & tanker & they may take you after CDL school.

So far you have some good choices to choose from with Boyd, Maverick & TMC.
My son is a dog handler in FL at an airport; after 6 years in the SeaBees and a few short years as a long haul reefer driver coast to coast.

    Best wishes.

Tribe has an interesting website & the only company I've noticed that has equipment as nice as TMC & also has APU's.
