stopped to use the pay phone in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere and found a fat wallet, remembered seeing a trucker pulling out . took it with me to the scalehouse because it was a dead end road. told the scalemaster which truck i thought it was, always hoped the leo didn't pocket the cash that was in it!

OK, you slept with the windows down, door unlocked in Il. in December with your wallet on the seat with your passport in the wallet (large wallet, right) and are surprised by this ?

I simply lock my doors and keep the windows rolled up.
Seems like 'common sense' to me.dannythetrucker and anj8488 Thank this. -

What do you call someone who leaves his wallet in the drivers seat with an unlocked drivers door?
Maybe I shouldnt have resorted to name calling but I call em as I see em. It was a stupid mistake so what does that make him?
I have done more stupid things that cost me than I can count or remember and I was stupid for doing some of them. and I have made plenty of mistakes, some stupid some snot.dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
Personally, in my perfect world, the one in my head, everyone should be able to sleep with doors unlocked and windows down. Every person who walked by that truck knew it wasn't theirs. Including the thief. People should just leave stuff alone that doesn't belong to them. Pure and simple. It isn't the victims fault that someone else has sticky fingers. Oh, and in my perfect world, if you leave your windows down, you wouldn't smell a strong odor of stale urine all night either. But, like I said...the perfect world is in my head.

11/2 years ago I decided to call it a night in the first rest area in WI on 1-39/90. (Just N of Beloit) After the usual B.S. of filling out the logbook, trip sheet etc I decided to go to a vending machine as I was low on supplies.
Did what I said turned on TV and let a 1/2 hr slip by annd as a matter of habit checked everything for the next day and discovered my wallet was missing. ####.! Didn't take me long to figure out I must have left it on top of the vending machine. Went back there...And of course it was gone.
Checked all the trash cans in hope that whoever took it would throw it (I know,in a trash can right) after taking the cash. Nothin. Went back to the Truck and cancelled my fuel card and two credit cards.. Some time went by and I decided to give it one more shot..
A young man was emptying trash cans and such;so I half jokingly asked him if he had found a wallet. He asked me if I had left it on top of the candy machine? He took me in the building where he opened the custodial door and gave me my wallet. No big deal? I had over $400 in there and........I said he was a young guy.? Those over 40 yrs may understand this.. He had two large earrings in both ears complimented with a nose earring ,camouflage fatigues with combat boots and one of those Mohawk hair-cuts.
Under normal circumstances I would not have given him the time of day;and yet he gave me over $400 back..I did some serious thinking and self-evaluation the next day.
What does this have to do with the thread? Nothing I guess. I just wanted to tell that story.
For the O.P. At least lock your doors. What the hell is wrong with you?
dannythetrucker, tinytim, allniter and 1 other person Thank this. -
That's funny right there.... I don't care who you are, that's funny.
Well duh.... Dangit Danny!dannythetrucker Thanks this.
