    Is cpm your only criteria?

If so, you're making a mistake. IMHO, differences of a few pennies a mile for most standard, run-of-the-mill OTR jobs mean nothing.

.40 with one year experience isn't too bad, but you're smart to be keeping your eyes open. Especially with the speed at which this industry seems to be changing....

Sometimes I get $100 a mile. Why do you only worry about cpm? if you have an 85 MPH 600hp truck one pick one drop from Houston to Oklahoma City, then .40 cpm is pretty good. If you drive a 61MPH 330HP truck crossing the rocky mountains then you better get .60 cpm. I need dollars per mile because sometimes I only get a few miles a day (heavy haul). There is so much more to trucking than how much you get per mile.

i'm a newbie and to me cpm IS an important factor but not the only one. for the cdl mill i started @ it was .29 cpm, (.28 cpm if i brought my dog with me.) i was lucky to avg 1500-1750 miles per week OTR running all 48. out 3 weeks home 3-4 days. started looking around and found a company that hired me on with 3 mos exp @ .40 cpm. i was amazed. but what sealed it for me was it's a dedicated run. Laredo to Wisconsin, 2960 miles per week doing my resets @ home. to say i feel like i hit the lotto is an understatement. for me it's a perfect gig.
