How long have you been off the road, you stated that your recruiter told you , you have to do 40,000 miles before you can transfer to an A seat. I will be going to orientation the 1st or 2nd wk of Jan. and I have 11 yrs of varified experience OTR but have been off the road for 12 yrs, and my recruiter said I have to do the 80,000 miles before I can transfer to A seat or at leased 60,000 then do another 20,000 as a solo at .30 cpm then transfer to A at starting pay, they wont recognize my yrs of experience because it has been to long since I sat in a truck. So are you going to orientation the 1st are you definatley going to prime, I checked out over 30 companies and Prime looks to be the best company that will take me on with my layoff of driving also they look to have the best training in the business and the best lease in the industry as they have a lease walk away and not a lease purchase which I would never do, anyway please respond......maybee we'll run into each other at orientation.

Hey everyone have a safe and blessed trip

    Hi BlackBart,
I will be starting my training with Prime Feb 5th and have been told the same information as you have by my recruiter. In my case I have not driven in 25 years and will be going through the complete Prime training program logging my 80k miles. You are right about their training being very long which I believe is a very smart thing for new drivers or folks that have not been behind the wheel in years. I am really excited to be taking the leap again after many years of working for a fortune 50 company and getting burnt out. Hope to see you on the road soon.

BlackBart- I will be there for orientation the first week of January. I have been driving throughout the year, so thats why I only gotta put 40k in with a trainer. But I dont mind cuz Ive got alot of learnin to do. Ive also never pulled skateboards. Maybe I'll see you there?

I go to Prime Orientation Jan 8th....taking bus from Jacksonville, FL to Missouri. Looking forward to the change of pace, as I have set behind a desk financing cars for the last 15-years.

Hey Blue 19, just curious how long have you been driving a truck or are you just a 19 yr old wanabee. Do you even have any idea of how much a truck realy costs, and how much one would cost if you had to finance one. Lets take an average Freightliner set up to run OTR, cost $108,000 to
$127,000 dollars and some guy's deck out a truck that can cost up-wards of $140,000 + but lets take a plain Jane that would cost $108,000. If your going to compare it to Primes no money down walk-away lease......and not a lease purchase that most companies offer, at 108,000 36 month purchase at 8% interest the monthly cost would be $3384.33 a month or $781.00 a wk. With Primes 36 month lease it's $751.00 a wk. with a bumper to bumper warrentee you pay for ware and tare items only. when you purchase a truck you can only get a 1 year bumper to bumper warrentee and if you extend the warrentee you can't do it bump to bump every thing to extend is ala-kart and is very expensive. Plus Primes walk-away lease has a lease competion incentive giving you back .0352 cpm back + your ballance of your tire fund and driveline and maintanance fund back if you have taken care of your truck and not beet the.....out of it, the average lease completion incentive is around $29,000 + so if you deduct that off of the $751.00 truck payment it comes down to about $561.10 per wk not realy to bad for a walk-way lease! + you'd have to put down $30,500 to have $560.00 a wk truck purchase payment and you still have no maintanance or tire fund that is extra. I read these posts and can't understand why so many people spurt things out and don't even have a clue about trucking or finance. I've chosen Prime because I want to run my oun business but lack the capital to purchase my own truck and Prime has the best lease deal I can find, I would rather make a few more dollars than a company driver and have a big advantage tax wise at the end of the year, of course the only way to achieve this is to make sure your going to average at least 6.3 to 6.5 per gal of fuel. the only way to do that is slow down.....slow down.....slow down short shift use cruise controll allways check your tire pressure both tractor and trailor and maintain your truck, some people just cant do it and that's what seperates the men from the boy's.

Hey everyone have a safe and blessed trip
