To answer your questions, yes some of the suggestions i have received are being worked on to impliment. I am working on a driver reward program, a driver's scorecard and a senior driver recognition program. As for your other question, the company i work for only hires drivers with 4-5 years driving experience. Sorry. Stop by and see me in about 3 years. :biggrin_255:
Thanks for the post and the questions.

Both are good companies in the industry. With Schneider you become more of a truck number then an employee. US xpress has good equipment and good runs. You can well at either of them.

We have had recruiters from both at school here recently along with Werner, TSI and SuperService and they seemed to have the best turd polishers that showed up. I may be a newb to this part of the industry, but mama didn't raise no fool:biggrin_25525:

Sounds like par for course. Recuiters are nothing more them salesmen and they are going to shine their company up the best that they possible can. You know when you are being feel a line of crap and when someone is speaking from the heart. You'll know when you find the right company for you. It just feels right. Make sure they treat you like a person and not just a number and a resource to be used and abused.

Well out of any of them and you being a newbie and if you can tolerate "low driver wages" and being american that's the new "minority" for just a little while, take my advice and go with TSI, If that's the one based in Romulus. I say that with many reasons as to why. The only bad thing about them is that if itz the same company, they are Mexican owned and operated therefore they have Mexican wages. If you want to know more pm me.

Homemade, it was TSI out of Romulus, seemed like a decent Canada to Texas run the recruiter was talking about, but I didn't get a good feeling about the company

it is a good run, i ran Laredo to romulus and back for 1-1/2 years. i don't know what have you the wrong feeling but 95 percent of the drivers are mexican, 3 percent are Canadian and 2 percent American, but what i liked most about the company is the way they structure their runs. the company was started in texas by the late AJ Pellegrino, who was a very smart man. his son kenneth runs it now and his daughter runs the other laredo based company but all freight going north and south in texas stops in mesquite trailers and company trucks are checked every time. Mr. AJ structured his company around safety. they will also give you runs to SC, Nashville, El Paso and if you are lucky harlingen. they will give you miles and most is drop and hook. you can run to canada and down to texas too and on occasion swap trailers if the solo driver ran out of hours and your truck crosses. most trucks are team trucks. they would hire me back in a heart beat. its just that I cant afford to work for them. but they do have good freight and romulus dispatchers are good people too but they are dispatchers. randy in safety is a good person to call him if the mexicans in texss give you a hard time for being american. who was your recruiter? safety in laredo is good and they are the ones who do most of the retraining.

Sorry homemade, I didn't catch his name and he left no paperwork or contact info. One of the students asked about their sms scores and he started dancing around and I think his preplanned presentation went down the toilet from there. He made it sound like the training period was more like team driving then actual training and although I have quite a few years driving and fixing big camo and tan trucks in my previous career, they had signs on the back that said stay back 200 feet. As I turn to a new page in the book of life, I want to feel safe and confident in my abilities as well as the abilities of the person sitting in the passenger seat who is critiquing me. Sorry if my post is running long, but my feelings are the safety of myself and others around me is a little more important than making a few extra pennies per mile. Just my opinion.
