hello all,
I already have my license but I havn't driven in 10 years. When I did drive I only drove for 3 months. I am going to go to CR England for 1 year to gain the experience I need to come back and work for the oil companies in South Tx. I will not lease from them. Do you still think I wont make any money? I know for sure that I won't make any money the first 3 months, but after that? CR England said they would put me in a 10 day non paid program refresher, after that i would go with a trainer at 430 a week before taxes. after they deem me worthy of being solo they will release me to make between 500-600 a week. If they are such a crummy company, can you recommend anywhere else to go and apply? I have just researched and read so many bad things about CR England, Dart and Pam im getting kinda scared, i don't know which is the company for me. I am supposed to be leaving for CRE in January.
Thanks, Aurora

I wouldn't recommend CRE, but for what its worth, my plan was pretty similar. I have been with CRE since last February, and once I hit one year I am going to start looking for local jobs.
I went right from the training into a home weekly dedicated account, and I always make enough money for my needs, so I can't complain too much, but when I was training otr I saw enough bad to never encourage anyone to work there. -
Thank you SDLM, any suggestions as to where else to look? Werner, Schnieder etc won't take me either because of lack of experience. Did you get your CDL through them or did you have it already like me? i read that if you don't lease, that you don't get runs.

I am reluctant to recommend any company really, I got my cdl at swift and they weren't great either but probably a better company.
I am on the dedicated side, so we don't actually allow people to lease in my fleet so, I don't compete with lease or team drivers for runs. There are only two types of people, home weekly and home daily. The daily people are paid a salary, so we really don't compete with them so much.
Never lease, with England under any circumstances. -
thanks, no no definetly won't be leasing. my plan is to live in the truck and pay every penny i make to a student loan company for some schooling i had earlier in life ( not cdl ). thanks.

Swift has a refresher course, but don't know the cost or other details.

Thank you Chinatown, CRE is going to give me a free refresher course but it wont be paid. I don't expect to make a lot of money there at all.

i dont recommend cre

Thanks Marky84, well I have until January 21st to find something else. That is when i am planning to head out there. I am trying really hard to find something better. i am applying to company's left and right. I applied to Pepsico yesterday and Covenant today. What do you recommend? No one has mentioned any companys that are better.

It is hard to recommend really, cre may be one of the worst, but I hear so much so bad about most that will hire new people. Sure they may be better than cre, but still hard to recommend to someone.
I heard tmc will train people who already have a cdl, and I hear mostly good things about them, but even then I havent worked there and no nothing of flatbedding, so I couldn't really say much to recommend them.
