My husband and I live in Excelsior Springs, MO. So you can say KC. Anyways he works for Sharkey. So far so good. Good bonuses, and good pay. He has been averaging about 2800 miles a week. Give or take of course. But $800 to $1000 a week. He is on the 15days out, 3 to 4 days home. So of course the checks do get cut when he is home. But still brings $450 to $600 at those times. He has only been there for about 6months. And only received partial compliance bonus. And a couple idle bonuses. The partial complaince bonus was almost $300.(He was only with the company for a little more than a month, and this is a quarterly bonus) And he has gotten a few low idle bonus. The last idle bonus was I think $126?.. That's monthly. You don't pay for insurance. We have no kids, so not sure about the insurance on kids, except what people are saying. No vacation pay, but that is rare in the trucking world. But not paying for OUR insurance saves enough to take a week or two off a year, and still keep our heads above water. I can't tell you about Sisbro or any of the other companies under Sharkey. I can tell you Sharkey has better pay and insurance. The 15days out 3 to 4 days home pays .40/.30 load/deadhead. If you want weekends home, it's flat .35. I THINK if you want home on weekdays it's .40/.30 but don't quote me on that one. So you understand my husbands background, he was an O/O for almost 2 years, trying to live the crazy dream. And well motors don't care what your dream is. So under water with a truck we haven't finished paying on, and the cost to fix was more than the loan! He hopped to the 1st company to take him. Which was Waller Truck Co. Which that is another forum. But Sharkey has been a great company so far. Check them out.

Third cousin drove for Sharkey. He liked it there, but an accident put him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I'd drive Sharkey, but I don't want to give up O/O now. Maybe is something happens and I can no longer afford to keep away from home 2 weeks.

misterG, if all the recruiters at "those companies" were always honest then this site wouldn't need to exist. Oh, and i will ask whatever questions i want, whenever i want. If you have an issue with that then i would suggest you either not read it or move on to another post. Thank you and good day!

I appreciate all of the insight. I am interested in them, but as we all know its better to get info from the ones driving the trucks than from the ones trying to fill the trucks. Thank you again!

What I was getting at, is that its best to go ask the ones in the know. Like the drivers at the truck stops. Not many drivers for either company are here at TTR.

Second, don't get your undies in a bunch.

I will gladly answer any questions that I can. Though, this was a dead thread for about two years before you woke it up.

It is often easier to begin a new thread for new questions about any company, than to revive a dead thread. As this allows more people to see that thread, than might see a revival of an old thread.

Well I can tell you so far so good for my husband. This company is on it! My husband knows what his next load is before he even gets the first one delivered. Sometimes he knows 2 to 3 loads ahead. They are mostly drop and hooks, which makes the miles rack up faster. All do to the customer base the have, that's how they can stack the loads on you. A guess on this figure I would say 85% to 90% all drop and hook. I wish I could tell you how good the insurance is, but we are just now getting it, and haven't used it of course. But free you can't beat. I wish you the best where ever you go. Truck drivers are not treated fair in this world, so fight for a good job! And you're right, better to get the info from the trucker than the ones trying to fill the trucks. Best of luck!

I'm happy here. If you have questions, inbox me!! I do get a referral fee if you get hired on. After all, wouldn't you rather hear it from a driver? Ask me, all I ask is if you get on, put my number down so I can get a friendly driver referral!! Thanks!

Wouldn't a driver hoping to get a referral fee lie to you? A happy driver will brag about how good things are, they don't need to be paid.

I like Sharkey, they are a local company and I know several of their drivers. Things aren't perfect but almost all of them are happy enough. Never believe a driver who will get paid a referral fee. They are getting paid to lie to you.

you can tell if a driver is lying just to get paid. i would love a referral bonus. i have worked for sharkey for 7 months now and have nothing but good to say about the company. good pay. good trucks (old but still run good), good dispatchers, and direct numbers to all the head people in the company. even jack sharkey the owner. he gives out his personal number to all the drivers so if you cant get anything done through the proper channels you can contact him directly. now how often do you see that in a company?
