Just found a new one ive not heard of... Open Road Drivers Plan.

    Never hurts to be smart.

Never had one never needed a pre-paid legal service.
Just drive like the professional you're supposed to be and you'll never need one.

Put the money you'd pay a pre-paid legal in to a "savings account" and when (if) something happens, find a local attorney in the appropriate jurisdiction. Otherwise you have about a 50/50 chance of getting a ticket "fixed" (any kind of ticket) with a pre-paid "lawyer".

Oh i do do things right. Just always doing research on all types of things.
granted sometimes doing things the right way still gets one in trouble.

Interesting that you think you need to belong to some dues paying, driver scamming, union-thinking, worthless, needless, paranoia-based outfit that will never represent you if you drive like a professional.

I've been out here 2 1/2 decades now and haven't needed a lawyer once... and I have fought every ticket I ever got in that time (maybe three?).

Having a CDL doesn't make you a professional driver. You don't become a professional driver by attending a driving school.

Save your money and stop being paranoid. Drive sensibly, plan your trip and drive your plan. Never be in a hurry cause traffic happens. I've found that any dispatch that doesn't meet the 50mph average speed (50 miles per hour of driving, 550 miles per day maximum) is unacceptable. The DOT mandates that an average speed exceeding 52 is considered speeding so why accept a load that requires you to drive 60 in order to make delivery?

A lot of common sense things play into safe driving and I feel the biggest is developing the 'no attitude' approach to driving. Don't let things bother you (other drivers, cars zipping in and around you, weather, weigh stations, inspections, troopers...) and you'll have an enjoyable trip without incidents or tickets.

...and no dues. If you want to send me $50/month, I'll gladly put it aside for my next vacation - it'll do you more good in a savings account than in some lawyers coffers.

    Just saying.

Waste of money. If it's such a good idea why don't you have a lawyer on retainer for your personal vehicle? Drive like a professional and if, heaven forbids, something does happen then hire a lawyer familiar with the trucking industry. There is no need to have one on hold.

20+ yrs and I got caught once on a logbook violation (driving over 10hrs when it was 10hrs). I was guilty so paid the fine after going to court as I had never seen the inside of a court and wanted to take a look. No need for a lawyer. Yes, the cop was wrong in what happened during the stop but I was over my hours so paid up and moved on. over 15 years later and I remember writing the check for $1,152.50 like yesterday.
