If you don't have the money to keep the truck fueled and in good repair, without help from the company, are you ready to be a O/O? Better to be a company driver and save your money first!
What i don't get is, he says he grossed $60,000 over a 4.3 month period, he worked 6 days a week and never accepted a load less than $1.80per mile. The numbers just don't add up...

I dont think it would have mattered if he had a big fat bank account to start with other than he wouldnt have ran out of fuel. With numbers like that sooner or later that bank account would have ran dry because crst was taking everything and he wasn't getting enough money to put back into the bank.

Crst does charge alot for stuff on the lease. But they are still honest about how they run their business. I did it and burned out. Does not mean they are bad. Just means its not a one size fits all type deal. Crst is a difficult trucking company to work for. But they WILL pay their people. Long as you follow rules.

I followed their rules and held up my end and 7 or 8 years ago when i was leased to them the first time they were a great, honest company but they are not the same company anymore and I'm the one who got screwed out of 1300 bucks. I don't know how many other guys out there have had this "performance bond" stolen from them but I know from experience that they kept mine when I always did what I was supposed to do on time and didn't owe them a dime when I quit.

Yeah I agree, They were probably a solid company and somewhat honest but now in my opinion I'm not so sure. When I decided to call it quits with them it's wasn't because I wanted to go home all the time or like sitting in truck stops regardless of what a lot of self proclaimed Successful lease operators would believe ( it amazes me) and I brought their equipment back to THEIR designated terminal, and turned everything in, all the gear + some gear that I purchased because I was actually picked up by the recruiter of another company at the terminal and could not bring anything along but my personal effects. 3 months later I start getting letters from a collection outfit saying I owe them 1800.00.? when I called them they state that I did not turn in any gear and kept everything......WHAT? I'm dropping off a truck and I guess carried along with my suitcase and personal stuff like CB and ect. AND carried away 5 Tarps/12 snap binders/4 rachet's/15 straps/8 beveled 4' long dunnage/8 blankets/12 5/16" chains. Their so &^%$# deluded it's just stupid really, I think I'm actually going to take THEM to court. Its just the typical company BS where communication is a myth and one dept. doesn't know what the other is doing.

when i was with crst malone my frightliner would only get 3 miles to the gallon at 60 miles an hour.with 40.000 pound load. So u see iam no longer there.But i did atleast turned it in to one of there yards.Only made 2k in 6 months made nothing the last 4 months.And had to sit with no heat in below teens weather with no fuel to run the truck With this company i used to book my loads with landstar to get for loads that paid 2 dollars and more a mile at 38.000 pounds which helped the poor fuel problem.But malone stared getting cranky about me booking loads through landstar kept trying to force malone loads on me all there loads are 48.000 pounds and everyone i picked up was taken back becouse of overweight problems.Another reason why i left not to mention that the landstar loads that i booked for 2 dollars and more a mile crst tried to tell me that they only paid 1.20 and less a mile hahaha.and the #### that i lossed nearly 30 pounds in the last 4 months of almost starving myself.so i ran over 10.000 dallars in loads asy last month but crst malone now says iam 3000 dallars in the hole for that month excuse my spelling i just got in from a 48 hour bus ride after i turn in my tractor and flatbed trailer.So my warning to people is to stay far away from this company.This has been one of the most worst companys that ive tried to work with in my 33 years of driving.

Im a female o/o in n.w. Ind. getting ready to start orientation in Davenport Mon. I'm new to flatbed I been pulling containers last 3 years. I've had people tell me I can't handle it, to be honest that makes me wanna do it more. I don't have a problem finding my own loads and doing what I have to do to keep working.I also don't mind hard work n getting dirty I am far from petite! Lol I'm just open to any tips or advice anyone can offer me as a beginner and a women. I haven't seen the load boards yet but according to my recruiter there's local and regional work in this area so well see huh?
