Once you get to the terminal you were headed to do you run in and scale a forklift real quick to get on the clock like everyone else? I started at CT this month. My terminal is tiny, only 8 other guys do linehaul with me. I have to say, after reading so much dirt about other terminals I think my terminal has got it pretty good. Got a couple of friends in different terminals (Chattanooga and Chicagoland).

My Terminal is an AC (Activity Center) so 99% of our runs are meets (meet with another driver at a truck stop and swap loads). We have a night run to Atlanta where they have to work the dock when they get there. When we go to end line terminals at night there is no dock work since the terminal is closed, and during the day its up to the driver if you want to work the dock (this also will depend on the terminal some terminals are so small you cant work the dock during the day because all the trailers are gone doing city work so no where to put the frieght.

American Trucker can you provide any info on the central terminal in Charleston WV, they are hiring and I'm considering applying
-
only thing i know about it is its very small, so small we do our Charleston meet at the truck stop instead of just switching at the terminal because there isnt room. I've never been there myself, sry i cant be of more help

Two other things i forgot to post about:
Blah blah blah
Then about 2 weeks ago i went to load a pallet onto a pup, it already had 3 pallets on it and i went to stack mine on one in the nose and just as i set my pallet down i could feel the trail start to go.....then BAM! over it went. We have a new Removed by Moderator switcher thats been here 2 MONTHS and cannot put a trailer in a door straight to save his life, they are ALL at a 45* angle, and 8-18" away from the dock so the dock plates barrley if at all touch the trailer....and he either Doesnt put the tip bars down on the pups or he put them down but doesnt put the pin in, and now he's started a new stupid thing he lifts the trailer up then puts the bar down with the pin in so ALL the weight is on the little tip bar and the landing gear is off the ground by 6-8".....well in this case he put the bar down but didnt put the pin in....we had a driver nose over earlyer that day and 1 the week before because of this stupid switcher, they've talked to him and he still cant do anything right. im just waiting for someone to get hurt, it'll be an easy lawsuit for sure
