Give Christine Yost a call at Conway Freight in Joplin, Missouri, formaly called CFI. They send husband/wife teams to school and help with the cost. I went to Central Tech in Drumright, OK on their dime. Good school, PTDI certified, housing available off campus. Good luck to ya

You have to be careful about what you consider a priority. The training period with the company, after you are hired is generally about 4 to 6 weeks. If you choose a company that let you and wife be together, you are probably giving up something.
1) There are only so many dollars per load available. If there is an extra grab on those dollars, your pay in training has to go down or your training is way longer.
2)There is only one trainer in the truck. They have to sleep sometime. So, for the trainer to give equal attention to both students, the training time is longer. That means it is longer until you start earning decent money.
3) The alternative to number two above is, the trainer sleeps while one of the rookies is driving. I love my wife, but have a hard time sleeping while she is at the wheel of her Scion. I would never sleep if she was driving the big truck. Especially in the first few weeks out of school. It is just plain unsafe for the trainer to sleep while the student drives. Avoid companies that allow that.
4) If you have to job hop right after training because you hate the company that let you train together, then what have you gained? You are starting with a new company, don't know if they are the right choice either but, hey, its only time wasted and you continue to start with new companies at trainee pay.
5) All trainers are jerks, grouchy, dirty, smelly, horny, just read the threads in here. Seriously, all trainers are truck drivers. Some are nicer than others, communicate better, and so on. My outfit doesn't keep trainers around when they get too many bad reports from students. My outfit also doesn't put female students with male trainers or vice versa. (obviously, one jerk slipped through the cracks). The reality is, the trainer shouldn't matter but somehow, it does. The reason is, 10,000 miles or so is a long time for two strangers to be cooped up together. Add a 3rd person and somebody is not going to get along with the other(s).
Bottom line. Find the company that you want to work for based on pay, days off, reputation, etc. Take whatever their training policy is and get on with it. I recommend against any team driving with students. It is not safe for the student or the trainer in the early days, and maybe not even at the end of the period.
Good luck, have fun and for God's sake, be safe! -
Where do you live in TN? I'm from TN also, originally. You still moving to WI; will you miss TN no personal income tax? We will eventually relocate to Nevada, Las Vegas; no personal income tax there either. One post mentioned Schneider; that's a good company for you & wife to team. So is Central Refrigerated. Another good one is Watkins & Shepard. Two more for teams, Interstate Distributor and Marten Transport. Best wishes to you both.

I never trained at Schneider, but I've seen a lot of great reviews about their classes.
