Just tested out yesterday and got to meet my fleet manager here in Marshfield. Have to do the safety meeting this morning and then pick up my truck. Start heading toward the house this afternoon I hope.

Congrats. Do we get paid for each tarp we use? I just had to tarp and untarp a crazy lumber load. 2 lumbers and a steel was used to cover all of it.
-
Only once.
I've used 4 tarps, only got $22 on then another $22 for off. Had to use 2 lumbers and two steels -
Did you make a note on how many tarps?
-
No, you don't get paid for extra tarps. I think we should be paid for each tarp, but unfortunately it ain't gonna happen

Well, I finally got a school date set for Marshfeild. January 14 I will be up there followed by securement training. I do have some questions on what type of rain gear you guys like. Im looking for something that will hold up for awhile but not 200.00. Any ideas on bibs and a jacket that work here let me know. Also on steel toes I hate them but if it a required thing then its another pair of Red Wings. I imagine the steel toes are all based on what the shipper requires. Thanks Troy

Make sure it's warm. I wouldn't worry about steel toe much unless your going skateboard. And with the cold I would go with the alternate types of protective toes other than steel.
-
I am going flatbed. Got plenty of warm water repellent things to wear, just dont want to ruin the good stuff while chaining and tarping. Gonna have to see if Red WIng offers an alternative to steel too.
-
For flats there is a live load/unload pay, but it's only if you live load or live unload within 100 miles of a relay point. You don't always get paid for it...seems like it depends on how your FM is feeling that day.
