So it is ok to take a company truck home and wet sand the tanks and polish them up to a mirror like shine???

I won't spend any money on the company truck, well not unless it is something I can take off when I leave but I have no problem spending some time to make it look the way I want it to look.

It doesn't matter that its a company truck. I don't care to get paid for doing it, I do it because I have pride in what I drive. I'll spend 6-8 hours washing and cleaning my truck because its what I want. To me it's not just a piece of equipment. It's more than that.

Alright I get it, valves overlap, I knew that. The way I took that post was that he meant the valves overlapped A LOT, as in more than the normal amount that's to be expected. That still doesn't change the fact that mufflers or the entire exhaust system have absolutely ZERO to do with cam timing. Turbodiesels DO NOT need backpressure after the turbo, there is no arguing that fact. But like someone else posted, you can't let the exhaust flow cool too quickly otherwise it will slow spoolup.

Exactly. I'm honestly not sure where people get the info that exhaust affects the timing.

thats nice and that is totally up to you but my company is not most companies they actually appreciate it as do a lot of of other smaller companies if i ever wanna be reimbursed all i have to do is ask. as for adding stuff 95% of the stuff i have on and in this truck that i added is easily removable so i can take it if i ever lose my mind and decide to leave the 5% that isnt that would stay with the truck if i left pays for itself every single nice, sunny day and looking and hopefully soon sounding good. it's my money and i work hard for it most goes right in to a saving account the rest is for the toys and trucks. i might as well enjoy some of it with something that makes me happy and something i pretty much live in 3 weeks out of the month

I agree. I sleep like a baby next to a reefer or a guy with straights on high idle.

I know not everyone is that way but you'll always have people that get mad at idling trucks next to them.

Just because you can sleep next to a load truck does not means everyone else can. I spent many nights sleeping in the truck and spent alot of time in lots looking for a quiet place to bed down after my shower and supper, only to have a fool come and park way in the back of the lot next to me and crank up the idle on their straight piped rig and keep me up. Many times I have had to get up and move to another spot or just turn around and nose in just to get a good nights rest. The latter tend to upset people and I have been called names over it but I just say" turn your stupid 5h1T off and I wouldn't park that way".

any chrome shop should that sells pipes should have pipes with slide in mufflers. it fits into the straight pipe. but personal i would just run 8 in staight pipes and turn the jakes off when crossing scales and dont mash on the pedal when you start leaving. you should be fine than
