What is it that you are confused about?
Thanks for the words of support fido. -
That is probably a good thing for you. Now you won't be scared much.

But driving around at school ain't the same as actually doing runs. I have found it very intense. And so much to remember. I keep forgetting stuff.
The truck my trainer has is one of those bigger Volvo's with a table in it. He says that the headlights don't work that well, aren't that bright (tell me about it
) He wanted to put a stronger fuse in but the shop told him that might melt the wiring harness.

Sounds like Cat was confused because she saw the driver there with a dog and you had said Swift says no pets.

Hey there Sweeze(y -
) I'm glad things are going so well for ya and thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us. I'm sitting on the fence at the moment between Schneider and Swift and you are making it more difficult to choose. I've read all the fluff on here about both companies but it seems to me many of the haters on here are their own worst enemy and cause themselves grief by doing stupid things. Swift would be the easiest choice since they have a school in Portland but I like what I read about Schneider better... but their closest school is in California (yuck!). The main drawbacks I see with Schneider are the 18 month contract, the whole California thing, and the price of their school.
Ah well I have some time to choose still. I'm not planning on making the career change until the end of March so I have plenty of time to do more reading. Don't let the haters around here get to ya, it seems to me many of them were never taught any manners by their mother so just ignore them. If it works for you and you are happy then roll on baby!
Anyway I suppose I better get back to work
Cheers,
-Reby -
i am confused because you said swift won't let you take your pet, and this driver obviously had his with him.

Reby:
these companies all have their good and bad. Some drivers i talk to talk nothing but good about swift and schnider and me, as a USA Truck driver, i will defend them to a certain extent. Me i read all the bad stuff that everyone had to say about usa truck and there for a while i believed it. it was tuff at first but it is gettin easier and easier. i think most of these companies do what they do to noobs b/c they want to see how tuff they are and how resourseful they are... i tuffed it out and now i'm averaging about 3k miles a week. but to hear everyone talk they don't get miles, i don't see how... only problem i have with usa is the ppl they deal with. the companies they contract to are F'n idiots. i wish you the best of luck. like i said EVERYONE has their good and bad, most of the time u hear abotu the bad. now don't get me wrong this is not a perfect company, by far but they are tryin to improve stuff. with all these companies taht accept students, and have crappy equipment, u have to look at it from their point of view, if you was a company and u paid 25-40k for a truck, would u let a noob drive it if most of the noobs were crashing and ruining them? i know i wouldnt' i would give them something that is pretty ruff lookin and beat up already taht way IF something did happen it wouldnt' be too big of a loss. i know i'm jumping around on subjects and this is not just directed to one person i'm saying all this to make a point. like that one person earlier in the posts said, EVERYONE has to start somewhere.. i'll prolly get bashed for defending this comppany but oh well i'm happy and if they keep me happy i'll stay with them. if not then after 6months i'm gone -
I just want to say the swift exp. is ok for some I went to their school in millington, tn and left after 2 days I knew it wasnt for me. they dont make you pay if you leave within 3 days. they have about 150 people showing up a week and the first week is a bunch of hurry up and wait. while doing all the stuff they want you to do you have to do book work even if you already have a permit cdl or whatever. I ended up going through the workforce investment act for school and they paid for it all localy and paid me to go it was a blessing. I have friends that work for swift and are not happy but I know there are happy drivers there there has to be right.

Why would a trainer spend every moment sitting in the passenger seat for six weeks ?? You do know that when training after a point say by week two you start to run has teams yes?
