I have heard them all. Today a guy had a load booked with me from Indiana to Texas since yesterday evening. We set up the carrier. A 1 truck operation, owner operator. We got all the paperwork squared away yesterday, and I told about 5 carriers that the load was covered. The guy who is about 60 years old, called in this morning and said that his dad died and he could not pick up the load. I had not heard that one yet. I know the brokers are full of them too. Anyone have any other good falling out excuses? Hehehehehehehe.......

His dad died and you think this is funny? At least he called you to inform you of this.
pattyj Thanks this. -
LOL! How about "its my wife's birthday and she won't let me leave yet!"
-
No. His dad didnt die. He is using that as an excuse to fall out on me. Another driver knows the guy and his dad died 10 years ago. He basically lied straight up to me because he found another load.

I've heard drivers use this too, only to find out that their parent had passed away years before or were still alive and well. They did this just to get out of the load.

Like a driver telling dispatch he needs to get home because Cousin Joe died......

dispatched produce out of calf in the 70s, the best story i ever got was (there is a dead cat in my fuel tank got to get tank cleaned out before i can leave) just played dumb, next day all i had was a pacific fruit load 6 pickups 5 stops across nebraska ending in omaha. if he would have just told me i got drunk last nite down in pico rivera with my buddies, that would have been the end of it. had to give a 1 stop ld super value. back to broker the 5 stopper was all he would give me next day. then the driver told me i need to go to dispatch school. b safe out there

That's pretty sick and very low class to use his family as they died to get out of a load.

I've died a few times to get out of loads.
Lonesome Thanks this.
