Do shippers or brokers ever ask you to accept a credit card for payment? Would it be worth to pay the 3-5% fee if it meant your company could get paid right away (also guaranteed payment)? Maybe ask to split fee with shipper or broker?
Curious on your experience with this.
How often do you get asked to take a credit card?

Not me but be careful here. The amt. you get is reduced for the handling chg. PLUS your bank may chg to handle again.....AND it works just like a regular cc. The card holder CAN dispute chgs. in a disagreement AND the money CAN be removed from your account pending disposition.
On a small deal say under $750, no problem. You should be able to eat that and still make it but what if were talking $5,000? You picked up on the East coast and took it all the way West AND unloaded......... all that fuel, gone......all those miles......can you eat that?
And if your speaking of a large carrier and not yourself, they wouldn't do this.

Quite a few large corps are paying by CC. Not the same as yhe one you use. Fee's are 1-1.5%,paid on invoice, clear date in 15 days.

Well there you go Nick. I was repeating what my wife said ( she works in a bank ) figuring it to be correct but obviously she's wrong.
Trucking must have a special card.....she has processed many payments from warranty co's to repair shops ( on cc ) and they get locked up all the time in disputes.......Who knew.......
My bad ! -
It's a variation of US Banks B2B,paymode,and other electronic payment systems. It just allows a time limit to reverse the charge. I have three customers that pay this way.

The fee you pay will depend on the system you (the processor) has set up. It will also depend on the type of card used, whether the card was taken on the spot, over the phone, internet, etc. as well as a few other factors.
How do you guys currently accept credit cards? (phone, internet or in person?) -
CC's can be bad news no matter what kind. say a customer disputes a charge. Ok it can happen so they tie 5000 and say it will be 10 days to straighten out, now you have to answer the complaint and get it back to them in a timely manner so you do now your 8 days in and the cust wants to counter now your past 2 weeks and you have money you can't use or worse yet the customer wins. Not good had them in other businesses and will never do it again !

Your wife should know what a corporate P-card is. If not,it's a credit card without a physical card, just account#. If you only receive payments from small companys/brokers then you wouldn't know about those payment systems. -
Your right! She should! I'll be sure to chastise her promptly!
wichris Thanks this.
