True, I didn't think about doing a reset. Maybe I'll get lucky and won't need to do one. Mentor has HT from Dec 22 to Jan 2 so not getting paid for that will sure suck. Good thing the kids are grown and don't need presents

?? I was under the impression after the new year freight dropped off quite significantly.

I just heard this recently as well. I guess if you get your 70 hours a week your gross is $595. Im hoping if they do this they go by the state where your home terminal is. Here in WA our minimum is $9.05/hr so that would be $633.50 gross a week. After taxes considering 20% that would be $506.80. About what you make in the second phase of pay gross but that would be your take home pay hourly.

Yes it is minimum wage for on duty not driving and add a $1 when you are driving. I just finished orientation today.

I wonder how that new pay scales is going to affect mentors that are L/O. Student wants to push so that can get the 70 hours fast, then need to shut down for 34. Personally, I prefer to run about 8 to 8.5 hours per day, every day. Miles are there, and never run out of hours.

My friend has been with his mentor now for exactly 4 weeks. Overall he is happy with Swift, but he has learned a hard lesson. All you newbies with mentors should be signing into Qualcomm yourself and writing down your hours and keeping track of them yourself. His mentor refuses to let him sign in on Qualcomm. His mentor always signs him in and now he has come up more than 20 hours short on driving time - thus getting paid less and having to drive longer with the mentor. It appears the mentor is signing himself in as the driver sometimes when my friend is actually the one driving. His mentor boasts of making good money from him - getting paid $1600 for one week when the most he has ever made as a L/O before was about $900 a week. Swift is also very behind on paying my friend. He started orientation on November 12 and he has only been paid twice so far - $209 and $267. So for almost 5 weeks of time he has been paid twice and made just under $500 net. Swift is a good company and my friend cannot wait to be done with his mentor and driving solo. Unfortunately it will take longer than it should because of the issues with driving hours and signing in on Qualcomm.

God Bless America and DocWatson Thank this.

This is something that should have been brought up right away when it started. A phone call should have been made to Driver Development. The mentor is paid the same regardless who is driving.

I agree, but my friend is young and he was afraid to rock the boat as he sees his mentor as his boss. And every time he asks to sign in his "boss" tells him he already did it for him. The last 3 or 4 days they have both been driving 11 hour shifts so I know he can't be signing in under his name right now. If they continue at this pace after their next restart, my friend should be finished with his 240 hours in 2 weeks so he can go solo. Thanks!
