Boy the ignorance is going to be ripe in this thread. 1st off, antidepressants can be (and are) used for a multitude of different ailments. Just because somebody is on an antidepressant doesn't mean they're depressed. Secondly, ambulance chasers are lowlife scum....and in the case of a fatality accident; I don't care if you just popped an aspirin or shot up with some heroin, they'll do their best to use it against you. Disclosing your private medical info to your company is not going to change that fact in the slightest. As a matter of fact, it actually benefits the company not to tell them because then they can't be held accountable. Also, that lawyer would then have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the medication caused you to kill that person.

The bottom line is that there are over 3,000,000 cdl holders in the U.S. Not all of them are in perfect health, and a lot of them are probably on some type of medication. I will also go out on a limb and say that almost half of the drivers on the road today should be and could be medically disqualified for one reason or another.

I don't consider myself to be suffering from depression. I started taking antidepressants over a year ago to cope with the loss of a loved one.

I would make sure to check with my doctor first before stopping. I'm almost positive my doctor would be ok with whatever I decision I make, and that she would write a sign off if I decided to continue with them. I don't really plan on being on them forever, so I thought it might be good to transition off of them before I get behind the wheel, espescially if it might cause me problems getting hired. I want to be as honsest as I can with companies so I don't get let go for falsifying anything. And from what I've heard, the DOT physical requires you to tell what meds you take, and for a company to hire you, you need to give them access to your DOT physical records.

Even the medical professionals are having trouble with this topic. Here's one webpage:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2766284/

Here's one lengthy discussion, with a long list (article is 380 pages):
http://www.hartfordtransit.org/pdfs/Prescription Drug and OTC Best Practices.pdf

OR, we could just google "antidepressant liability truck accident" and see what pops up:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=antidepressant+liability+truck+accident&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

AND NOTHING IS FOUND. The unpaid results show that "antidepressant" isn't found, and if you search the paid results (uh, those are the lawyer websites), you won't even find "anti"

NOW LET'S SEARCH FOR "BENADRYL LIABILITY TRUCK ACCIDENT"....

And you will find results.... And Benadryl is an OTC drug!

I tell ya what man....after having the kids grow up and be more self reliant, getting bored with skydiving, motorcycles, and jetskis....I am seriously lacking enthusiasm and adrenaline in my life. I am considering lexapro (SSRI , Selective serotonin uptake inhibitors). My Brother has been on 5mg for years now and swears by it.

It is either something like that or I need to start a fight club or something. I feel dead inside.

You’re responding to a 9 year old thread. You might get more useful info by starting a new thread, you won’t get as many people answering the older posts instead of yours.

    firemedic2816 Thanks this.
