Graduated from school last Wednesday & already had a job set up to start on Dec 27th, until the fllet manager called my school & talked to my driving instructor who told him training me was a waste of fuel. Long story short, fleet manager called me today, & I start tomorrow on a local route home everyday. Feel really fortunate. We'll see how it goes I guess, but Im ready to go I guess. He wanted me to start early because he was afraid that I would go somewhere else. Feels pretty good. Thanks

Day 1 in the books on my trainers local route. 575 miles. Left my house at 10 a.m. Got home at midnight. Ahhh, the life of a trucker. Here we go! My route once I get 1, may have different hours, but theyre still long. I will use up my 11/14 pretty much everyday, but I get weekends off, so that makes it all worth it

Omaha Direct. I run out of Crete, NE. We haul reefers with "stuff" left over from slaughterhouses & freeze it & ship it to dog food plants. Its all fresh. Smells great! :biggrin_25513:

Week 1 down. Went really good. Lots of hours, lots of miles. Tired, but happy. Home every night around midnight, left everyday around 10 a.m. Pay is good, miles are good. & since we haul our own product, I dont see miles going down anytime soon. Time for Sunday, the day of rest

Well, 10 days into my new career, 4400 miles with a 34 in the middle. Pretty #### good I think for someone who gets to sleep in their own bed every night. Havin a blast! Cant wait to get off training salary. (I saw my trainers last paycheck & I want what he's getting) It's only a matter of time though.

Well congrats, i would say that you are pretty lucky, i hope that everything works out well for you, i hope that you are making a good income with good benifits, it's rare that a person that gets out of school and can land a good driving job and more so locally, the long hours should not be that bad as you are home every night. It makes a differance if home every night or sleeping in a bunk. Good luck.

I totally agree with you. Home every night doesnt mean that I leave at 7 every morning & get home at 5 every afternoon. I usually dont get home until midnight or so, but just being able to sleep in my own bed every night makes it worth it. We do 100% no touch, 90% drop n hook, so Im not in & out of trailers all day which is nice. We'll see I guess
