I've applied and applied and keep getting an email saying they are considering other applicants. I don't know what the deal is since I meet all their requirements and have no tickets

So basicaly you head out monday, sleep in the truck and come back tuesday when you're done, and off on either wednesday and thursday, with a 1 day route in there somewhere. and leave back out friday, sleep in the truck and come back saturday..and have sunday off? And at 85% that's still great money. Just think about your checks at full scale pay

That's the jist of it, but I should disclaim that I'm working ~65/hrs per week and that I usually sleep in a hotel unless I'm too tight on hours to get there. Company policy if first night in the berth and second night in the hotel, but they (my terminal) is OK with staying in the hotel if you go "priceshopping" in advance. I stay at a Super 8 on mondays and fridays that costs us $31/night with our corporate lodging discount, and you figure that's cheaper than idling the truck overnight. and trust me, I think about "if I was @ full scale right now" all the time

Hey brtecson,I saw your earlier post that said you were from Wi.You must be working out of the Elkhorn DC? I always see their ads listed in the paper and online. Was wondering if most of the work is hand cart or do they use electric jacks and lift gates? Sounds like you pretty much have a set schedule? Hows the health insurance and other benefits? Thanks in advance
-
^That's the one. Most of the deliveries are tailgate deliveries, meaning you toss the case onto the edge of the truck and they cart it in themselves. We do have stores that we cart/ramp the stuff in ourselves but most of those go the the senior guys because it pays more per case. We also have linehaul runs where we pick up from our suppliers and bring it to our warehouse or other warehouses in the region, it's easy money and extra board and bid drivers do these runs occasionally... I do have what I would consider "semi-regular" routes/scheduling; I don't have a weekly bid yet, but I cover the same routes for weeks at a time so that myself and the other 'extra board' drivers are on a routine. However, for Christmas and New Years week everybody's schedules got shuffled around so that we could cover all of the routes. We rebid this month and I will have a weekly bid when it's all said and done... As for health insurance, I dont have that info handy but I do know it takes 90 days to be qualified for it and it is affordable.. I'll PM you with further details.

Thanks for the info brtecson. So are you payed by the case then, or is it mileage and per case ? I see they advertise $58000 the first year ,do you feel like that is a realistic number?
