It is a shame that Schneider no longer has schools. I went through their school in Charlotte NC and then finished up in their specialized division. I hauled glass for them for a year to complete my end of the contract. Their emphasis on teaching safety has really paid off for me. I started off with them in June 05 and pretty much began driving solo in the winter. I actually made it through the year with them without a single claim or incident/ accident. After leaving Schneider I went to work for a local outfit hauling stone in a Centipede (a five axel dump truck). Hauled that for a few years and then went into hauling logs and chips. I am still incident/accident free and I haven’t had a single ticket, of any kind! I owe it all to Schneider! It’s a shame they have closed their schools!

I did the landscaping for Schneider Corporate Business Center in Green Bay, WI and I can tell you that there are students and trucks moving about at the Training/Finance center here in town over the last few months. Are these new drivers or re-certifications, I don't know. I have family who works in the Schneider CBC and they say Schnieder does not hire drivers with less than 5 years EXP.

I took the opportunity to run up to a student who was on a smoke break and asked him a few questions. I asked him how long he had been driving, and he told me he was brand new to trucking. He also said he wasn't hired on yet. Not sure if he has to come up with the school costs himself if he doesn't get hired on or what the deal is...

I would usually see 4-8 trucks come and go in about a two hour span from the training center, some with riders (I would assume trainers) and some with just a single driver. I don't see as many Big Orange trucks clogging up our busy streets, as in past years, so training efforts may be wayyyy scaled back, but it's not like the Schneider training center is completely shut down. Just reporting what I see from the outside looking in.

Now with you being in Utah, I don't know if they do it there like in Idaho but I went to the employment office and attended Sage technical school for free thru a program W.I.C.
you might want to talk to your employment office and see if they have any training programs and if so do they have truck driving training they would send you to like I went thru here with Sage. Sage is a great school, was the 2nd time I went thru truck driving school this time to recertify my C.D.L.

Yes Roadmaster totally does the same with Work Force Services, the VA, and all other agencies. The difference is that Roadmaster will only train and process you if you are qualified to be hired as a CDL driver. They won't just train to train. A person having a CDL is pointless if they can't be hired somewhere. That and they do placement for life.

Yes same with W.I.A. here they had me fill out prehires with 2 or 3 trucking Co's first to ensure that I could be hired before sending me to school. I do have to say Sage was a great school, better than the first school I went thru in 1999 in GA. was 4 to 4.5 weeks long and learnd a few more things I didn't before and re-freshed me on other things I forgot about and I liked the one on one driving time with instructors.
