I like running team personally. If you can't sleep with the truck moving there is no point though. I have troubles sleeping when we're not moving anymore, which isn't often.
At my company, the majority of dedicated runs are team, so that's a bonus as well. I make a loop from the west coast to east coast and indirectly back and get 2-2/12 days at home a week. Still can take a week off like I am this week as well. I've been running with my best friend for about 16 months, probably wouldn't with anyone else though. We have a good time on the road together.
Driving team - pay...hours, etc

My husband has been out there with a friend - at least he thought he knew him and thought he was a friend. He says his "friend" doesn't shower quite the way he needs to... doesn't run the way he's supposed to (doesn't want to drive his hours)...has some peculiar habits. My husband can't wait to drive solo again. He went team because he'd been out behind the wheel for a while and was not getting much in the way of bites. He had two years experience and then went almost two years not driving. He had health issues and could not drive for a while. He'll be with this company for 6 months in Feb and we're praying he'll be able to get with a good company that hires out of San Diego. Thanks to all of you that gave their input.

Hey Dirty Bob ~ Would you mind saying what company you're running for? We're in San Diego.

Same here running solo on a dedicated account.....The team driving is not for me..Very hard to sleep in a moving truck.
I tried it for about a year and ended up doing 80% of all the driving while my lazy co-driver slept like a baby and got the same pay as me.
Heck with that!
They ended up putting me back solo running west coast and i still turned a trip a week.
Team drivers are a special breed i guess.Or i am too old and grumpy to have a co-driver.....lol! -
I drive for Pride. Not sure if they hire out of San Diego. I've read a couple people on here said they wouldn't when they inquired, but I've met a couple drivers from San Diego so I don't know honestly. I know we have freight in and out of there, not as much as the LA/Riverside area though. If you call them up and ask for Joe or Diane in recruiting they'll let you know.
It'd be tough with a co-driver like you described. That's the hard part in getting work ethics and stuff lined up. I kind of had it easy though as I rode with him on multiple week trips before I ever had a license so we already knew we could get along in a truck together. We both run hard and both smell like crap at the same rate so it works out lol.tbrown_sd Thanks this.
