Hi, thanks for reading my post:

I'm looking for a company that has installed APU's on all it's trucks, so if I start driving for them I'll be sure to get a truck that has one. In my opinion temperature control/ comfort while waiting to be loaded, unloaded or just waiting to get a load is one of the most unsavory parts of being a driver. Last company I worked for had opti idle and that really sucked. Getting woke up all night by a beep and a shaking truck and having tv go off due to electrical surge is for the birds. I have a excellent dac record and 4.75 years of experience. Anybody? Thanks.

You might want to check with Prime as I believe most if not all of their company trucks are equipped with APU's.

i agree; i feel that for OTR, the sleep factor is one of the most important---and most neglected aspects of the game.

i'm also looking for a company that has either APU's, webasco, or pays for hotels.

The companys i know that have apu's on all trucks:
    Smith transport
    New Century
    Gordon

Schneider has the webasco system on all trucks bought during and after 2005

As far as hotels, many of the carhaulers pay for them.

Many companys pay for idle air, but the problem is that you can't always find idle air especially out west.

This company I drive for. They are also another that have Rig Master generators installed on every truck. I have seen many trucks using Carrier or Tri packs and I honestly do not know the difference. The only thing I can see as a difference is that a Rig Master is a totally self contained unit. The only thing it uses from the truck is the diesel.
Tri Packs use the water from the truck its self and does not have any source of 110 AC power. Unless you have a big power inverter installed.

Duie Pyle has new Freightliners with apu's. Do not know where you live but Pyle is in the Northeast.

Now I just wonder how long it will be before these idiots decide to ban the use of APUs etc because they burn fossil fuels. . .:biggrin_25513:

Check the thread on California. They have them banned 1-1-08 unless they are certified.
