Good company to lease onto?

Hi everyone. I'd like to know your favorite companies to lease onto. I live in Philly and am looking to get home weekly when I buy my truck shortly. Does anyone have anything bad to say about Forward air? They made my short list. What other companies pay well that i should consider. Forward airs rates are good, but I was hoping for better.

Thanks for the info! Bruce looks like a good company to work for but hey only hire with 2 years otr experience. I only have 1. As for west motors, they pay % and i would prefer per mile to get started.

I drive % now. You May make more money on %, but its not as consistent. On % i could have to drive for 50 cents a mile where on /mile if i move my truck i know i am getting a set rate and covering my expenses. At least untillt he truck is paid off i'd rather stay with the more consistent per mile.

 

First off, the companies I'm looking at pay way more then a buck a mile. Secondly, what if the load pays $300 and its 600 miles long. In the past I have had loads like that to get out of bad freight areas. Now i would only make 204 which is .34/mile. I'd like to have the securety knowing if I move my truck I will be paid enough to not loose money. Yes, in the long run % normally is a little better, depending on the company, but you also get a less consistent paycheck as well as well as a bit more risk of having to take a bad load. Also most companies that pay % don't pay anything for bounce. Most that pay mileage pay something for bounce. Forward air pays the same loaded or empty, so if you move your truck you are getting a paid a predetermined income and don't risk having to move for pennies. Fuel and manintanence aint cheap...i don't want to move my truck for .34/mile. Were both talking about the extreams here, but the truth is /mile is less risk while % may have slightly higher pay. As a new driver to whoever i leese on with, they are gonna give me all the crap loads anyway. being % on crap loads is bad.
