I filled out an app the other day. I believe they called me today but I was working and wasn't in a position to answer. It was a little rock area code and I don't know anyone else there.
-
Probably so. I'm trying to get things together for driving school. I'll probably start sometime in late Jan or early Feb. Recruiter told me to call her as soon as I get my class a so she could get me down there. Hopefully she can soon after cause I will be without a job, that's kind of scary! Let us know what happens. -
Hello there, saw your post and had to register. I'm currently working for Swift and I haul steel. Only steel. I'm on a regional run that gets me home every weekend and pays fairly well. I know most people knock Swift for their slave labor wages but I honestly can't knock them for that. I came right out of training and went straight to a dedicated account that pays ..37 empty/.40 a mile loaded. Basically hauling coils and steel plates and bars in a covered wagon.
However, there are some negatives about them but I won't get into those. I've considered a move to Maverick because they have some excellent equipment. However, before I get too serious about them I'd like to know some things about them.
A) Can I move from Swift and get on a regional run and have weekends off? How does their weekends off work? SAT/SUN or do they do it like Swift? Swift gives me FRI/SAT off and brings me back out Sunday.
B) Can I get on an account and only haul steel? I really have no desire to haul drywall, lumber and the like. I've done it before and honestly prefer hauling steel.
C) How is freight in their flatbed division?
D) How much experience do you need to get hired in and have a reasonable chance at negotiating some good conditions? I mean, I've grown accustom to a few things at Swift and while I'm willing to give some of that up I'd like to keep some of it and not have to start totally over from scratch.
E) Do they have any terminals close to the Lexington, KY area?
In case you couldn't tell, I'm flatbed. I'm sure I have more questions but there's a start. -

-
NONAMEgiven: your question's are pretty specific, would seem to me you would be better served calling the recruiter to get question's answered.
