amwilletts I've run a few loads for TQL; although my latest load was the worst experience with TQL yet, it's usually decent runs.
However, you know how it is, it's all based on relationships... so until then I'd say play it conservative.
Also, I would suggest you establish your own rule of thumb on max d/h you're willing to travel for a load.

All-in-all, as you said, we "Live and Learn"...

 

A signed rate confirmation that is signed by both parties is a legally binding document. You're being fed a lie. Go after them.

 

i have heard that brokers have their own "blacklist" and some O/O's dont go after them out of fear of being put on this "list"

There may be, but do you really want to keep hauling for someone with such poor scruples and lackluster business practices? There are other brokerages out there to pull for. Trust me, that majority of the time, we need you.

 

If you have the rate confirmation and load number and they pull that on you, why not call the shipper and ask them? If TQL canceled the load or never had it then you would not be breaking any agreement with them. Just see if you can haul the load direct. Or at least find out what happened with the load. I don't do business with people that I can't trust. I don't move my truck unless I have a signed rate confirmation with all the information unless it is someone with whom I have had a long lasting relationship. It is business. My guess is that either they never had the load or found someone who would take it for less money.

 

There was warning in ITS about TQL loads. Something about having to be dispatched before it was a valid load,not just having a load sheet.

 

I think there is more to the story than maybe what your bossman was telling... I'm not trying to carry the water for CHR here but really have never had any problems with them pulling fast ones and shenanigans that are routine business for TQL and even many small brokerages... They do what's in the contract if you cross the t's and dot the i's you should never have any problems getting payment or accessorials from them.
