IS THERE ANY COMPANYS THAT HAVE W900 or Pete 379

I don't see why you can't start out in a nice truck. It's no 379 but I walked right out of school into a 2007 T600 sleeper with a 475 Cat and 10,000 miles on the ticker. But. like I said, it ain't no 379 either. I think you should focus on other things like benefits and hometime. Nice trucks will come eventually.

 

go ahead jump into that 379 right out of school then get back to me when you take someones hood off in the parking lot when you try to drive it like a freightliner you are trained with there is a reason more companies don't have ext hood 379s doesn't have a thing to do with economics either it is a lot of drivers cant drive them without tearing them up i mean look at the companies now their columbia's and century's are all tore up cause the guys and girls cant drive i drive for Indian river transport and all of our otr fleet is 379 ext hoods 450 trucks + less than a year old now yes some of them have been torn up rolled over,etc but the majority of them are just like they were brought in the yard so there is a reason 2 and 3 years experience applies with these longer and larger blind spotted trucks cause they are just plain out a prettier truck worth a whole lot more when you want or need to sale them their are decent size fleets with w900s and 379s out there but you can bet you butt 2 years minimum fido

 

379 Petes and W900 KW's look really nice going down the road, especially when they have lots of chicken lights and the little chrome ladies on the mudflaps. They ride extremely well out on the big road. But they don't manuever for crap. When you set yourself to back in and look out your mirror all you can see is a chrome stack. Open the door and lean way out so you can see the back of the trailer{leave your seatbelt on or you might fall out}. They don't turn near as fast as most trucks do.

 

Try 400,000 plus miles with a single axle cab over International, spring ride.

I understand the original poster liking and wanting what he wants.

But, in todays economy as it relates to trucking. What he really asked for, was an employer with more money than brains.

Anyone who has driven a truck for more than a week, knows the 2 trucks he asked about get THE worse possible fuel economy.

As for another poster commenting about a Freightliner. I will STAND in line for a Columbia, before I get handed a W9 or a Pete. It has more room inside, it manuevers better, and the fuel economy is much better.

Now with that said....stick a Detroit in either...they both suck.

The MAIN problem with a Columbia...large fleet buys. Many are pushed through the line, and poorly assembled.

 

Be sure to keep us posted AFTER you go to work. I'm glad you got want you wanted but I just don't believe that you're going to make 75 cents a mile. Sorry that's my right to disagree.

Are you talking about standing in line for a Columbia to be ISSUED to you as a company driver....or are you talking about standing in line to PURCHASE one as an O/O ???

Big difference.

If you ever had a 379 Pete and wanted to sell it, you'd find that is by far easier to sell than your typical columbia that has been spec'ed out by people who've never even been in a class 8 truck.
