some places dont let you get out of the truck--some ou get to go stand in a snowbank--others you get to sit in an small room--but i notice the x-ray operators arnt around when the scanning starts
and we wont even go in to the cia tests at mcgill in 60's and 70's with acid
Are you advice to not leave the tractor trailer during the X-Ray scan

whenever I go on Ft. Carson and some other bases, especially with a sealed container, they x-ray it. They automatically tell you to stay out of the truck and off to the side with the guard. When do, your free to get in and go.

I wish to keep this an ongoing discussion. I am a new OTR driver and have now been to Canada several times, The last return to the U.S. They X-Rayed my load. But not without question on my behalf. When I saw the Machine in front of me I said you mean to tell me that your going to x-ray 45,000 lbs. and I'm not going to get any of it ? well I said I have to think about this. So I was pulled aside and was checked out , which was in hindsight somewhat putting myself in the hotseat , even though my truck was new & my load secure , I was checked out back to origin of life. Respectively , I finally gave when I was informed they would offload me etc. and that I should not receive any more radiation than when flying, I finally gave in but, really need to think this one through. I try to live my life really clean, as to have a fair chance of enjoying the second half. I don't feel that I want to expose myself needlessly to x-rays..My thought is if they want it done they should drive the truck through . I have much more to say but I think that if we as a community protest , we can have a better option and quickly if we will all get on board . Either they drive the load or change the method , think about the live cargo ? I might have to find another way to skin this one but , If every time we bend over to them. WE have sold out cheap ..............

I got asked to have my truck x-ray'ed at a border checkpoint in southern Texas last week.
They had me park my rig between the 4 cones, and then they asked me to get out of the truck and go sit on a bench under a canopy, so that is what I did.
The x-ray truck came and did their thing, then gave me the thumbs up and I went. -
In Port huron MI and a few other US customs , the x ray machine is in a building and you must drive the truck through it. Canada is smarter and lets driver park the truck and get out and then they x ray the whole truck, apparently the US isn't that smart.

At the Pacific Truck Crossing heading into Blaine they always tell you to get out of the truck. I am surprised it is different elsewhere.

All the times I went through the machines coming back the US in Buffalo area they always made me get out and stand in a little shack (with a space heater, which was nice since this was usually during the winter.
Only other place I've been x-rayed was at the sub base in King's Bay, GA and they did a bunch of vehicles at once. Everyone had to get out there too though and stand in another little shack.
Honestly, once in a great while shouldn't make that much of a difference but they should give you the option to get out if you wish. -
There isn't a single place in Europe where they will X-ray your truck and let you remain in it.
In fact you are NOT allowed anywhere near the X-ray machine.
No way i would remain in a truck while it is being X-rayed. -
I am x-rayed weekly. In Calais you have to drive thru and while they are suppose to put the laser line behind the drivers seat when you pull up, I know I've been stopped short lots of times and been x- rayed myself. I didn't know you could get the things to tell if you e been dosed , I may pick some up and see what's happening?
