Yeah, because your truck sitting at the shop not pulling ANY freight is making you more money than taking that $450????
I will grab a $450 load if i can't find anything descent going OTR. I'd run $450 a day in the clear for 100 miles everyday of the week if I could. -
It also doesn't hurt to have the right stuff, like Hazmat endorsement, TWIC and TSA Certification for airports.SHC Thanks this.

I have done it before at the end of the week you just dont make much $$$ for a long time i ran beaumont-houston every day sometimes twice a day if i could do hauls in and out everyday id do it but seems to not work like that
Yesterday i did one into houston $600 and came back to beaumont for $550 but thats all i have done all week if i could do that five days a week id be happy -
There are guys doing 2.50 all miles pulling dry vans... leased out to a carrier. I thought flats make more.
-
Have you put in the idea of moving your operation elsewhere??? You keep saying "I USED to be able..." and aparently it's not like that anymore and won't be again. Local work in Beaumont is dead, and it's not going to come back. YOU are going ot have to make a change in your operation and the way it runs or you will be the one filing papers in bankruptcy court, not the brokers. Hope you can figure something out soon, because at this rate all i see is you going down in flames.

They used to till everyone got the idea to go buy a flat and "make more", now those who had drug the van rates down now have flats and are doing it in this line of work for the most part.rickybobby Thanks this.

Who is this $2.50 per mile carrier you speak of.SHC Thanks this.

Than im in a market that i dont know and without any customers that dont sound like a good idea to me. I made good money years ago and even when things started slowing down in 08-09 everyone told me if you can make it thru that your going to be super busy well thats never happened yes last year i had a good year thats because all the hay i was hauling and all of it paid cash but rates have dropped this year alot
Im talking about opening a restaurant now so if you see my trucks on the net 4sale you know whats going on im working with the bank now and seeing what we can do. I have only had one job in my life working for someone and the last 15 years i have been self employed i could never work for anyone. i have been self employed starting with my tree service to my demolition company and the demo job is how i ended up with trucks/trailers and thru all of that i have never been as broke as i am now!!SHC Thanks this. -
