You better believe I had some good ol' roach coach fare! Today was a #### disaster from the word go. I finally left Concordia around 0900 and the roads were not the greatest but tolerable. I ended up sitting on US 81 for about 2 hours in Geneva, NE while they got about 4 trucks untangled in a curve. I finally got up to York only to find that I-80 was still closed over to Lincoln so I ended up running 81 up to Columbus then over to Fremont, all of which was completely snow and ice covered. Dale called be in Columbus and asked if I could run a Fremont load down to Emporia for tomorrow which I graciously agreed to. Surprisingly once I got south of Omaha on US 75 the roads cleared up pretty well until Sabetha, KS where everything that had melted during the day started to freeze over again which upped the pucker factor a few times! Luckily there's a casino north of Holton, KS with a dynamite breakfast menu where I parked for the night, a nice full belly of biscuits & gravy should get me through the day nicely! All of you guys be safe trudging across Iowa be safe out there. I was talking to my wife's dad earlier this evening and he said from Des Moines to the 680 split west of Shelby was pretty rough, I guess the wind grabbed him a few times and #### near put him in the ditch. Hopefully this wind does down sometime soon so they can start getting these roads cleaned off without crap blowing back over.

I 80 was a #### junk yard in the ditch...trucks jackknifed everywere...trucks facing the wrong way..rolled over etc...and tons of 4 wheelers in the ditch too....they even closed bosselmans in altoona cause they were trying to ###### it....the hill going west on the other side had trucks spinning out...almost lost my hood to a guy rolling backwards....thankfully i was 2k short of gross pretty well balanced with more weight on drives....had diff lock on all day...thankfully i could stop on hills and restart in granny gear....

So what's going on with VW these days? I've been seeing more and more negative type posting going on lately. I've followed this thread nearly since the beginning, and the posts were more positive early on. What happened/is happening? I ask because my current gig has been very slow for the past 2 months, and indications are that it isn't getting better anytime soon, and VW has been on my short list of potential new employers for quite awhile now.

Well mostly guys just blowing off a lil steam is my opinion. This is a difficult time of year to be on the road, your family wants you home for the holidays, the weather and road conditions get difficult and there you have it. It's not always easy to roll with the punches out here but the good thing is if you decide it's too much you can move along to the next outfit. After 25 yrs of doing this I am really satisfied here. You csn chase that petfect job forever.

I can only speak to my own experience and what I have observed. Last couple of months for me have been difficult with numerous service issues. All of which are Cummins flaws. It seems to be endless put service is doing its best considering that we have so many of these engines right now.

I will admit to a little venting off steam as well. Situation with my daughter has me on my last nerve.

I have noticed more stressful environment at Sheldon as well which I'm sure is in part due to being short a few drivers. VW runs at pretty much full capacity to maximize every mile. Can make things tough at times. But the good times are great as well.

With all that said, I'm still extremely happy here. Especially compared to where I came from. We will digress and continue...:D:)
