    Hey Guys & Gals,

I passed the CDL learner's permit test today! The first step into the real world of trucking. In Georgia, they give you this wonderful temporary paper i.d. and send you the real deal in the mail. They also advise you that it looks like junk mail when you receive it, so don't throw it away lol. I start school on Jan. 7th. I will keep everyone updated if I happen to have any free time haha. As always, feel free to comment or message if you have any questions about the process! Goodluck to all the other Newbies out there!

They do the same thing when you get your actual CDL. paper copy then hard copy in mail in about a week or two.

I remember back in the day when they would just give you the real deal right then and there. It was a lot more exciting that way in my opinion.

Some states still do. I think they do that to cut down on the fake ones.

In Jersey the put a little sticker on your permit to say you passed. Take it inside and get the real deal right then Unless your still waiting on your Hazmat.

    gsp331,

They have CDL Practice tests on this website. I would also suggest checking out TruckingTruth.com, if you have not already. I used both of these in order to help study for and pass my test. I will continue to study on both of them to help with the actual CDL test as well. Goodluck!

Congrats on passing the test! To echo wulfman75, cristcdl.com is a good resource. Read the stickied posts on this site. My advice as a recent grad: Study your tail off. Get every endorsement. When backing and doing maneuvers, focus less on the cones or barrels you have to avoid and more on where you want the trailer to go.

Once you graduate and attend a company orientation, do not fall asleep in class. The guys who were bussed to the orientation I attended in Forest Park (for USA Truck) arrived at 2am, 4 hours before the first day of orientation. Everyone was tired. One dude kept falling asleep and the staff took note of it. When he fell asleep a few times the 2nd day, he had to leave orientation.
