####, sounds like you've had a rough month.
My 'probation' period is over in about two weeks, been out ever since.
Think my average for the first two months is right around 10k.
Last load was from Helena to Carlisle, PA (just unloaded today)
and then from Fleetwood, PA to Atlanta (woohooo!)
No complaints thus far.
Coming to orientation Aug 13th...

Hmmmm.... re-reading what I wrote, it does sound Like I'm whining... Opps... that wasnt my intent.. I DO love my job, just.... some days its kinda hard to stay enthusiastic.
Yeah, I am going to worry about getting the truck repaired, once I get out to either SFS or Helena. Nothing currently going wrong is really worth taking a few days of downtime to repair. Yet..
9500 miles is the LEAST miles I have had of any month so far (ignoring my 1st month with my 1st trucks maintenance nightmare) Kinda hoping this short trip is setting me up for something longer... I could use a few days of just driving....
anyway. Time to get a midnight breakfast and hit the road.. -
Update....
Got a long one, running from conover to Montana. Couple of stops in MT at billings and a few other places, then finishing in helena. Sweet, i will be able to get my truck fixed
in other news..... :::GASP::: Im towing a NEW trailer.... and by "new", i mean not a scratch or dent on it, Still has the "new trailer" smell, PURE white, just a touch of dust........ yeah... THAT new. It's watkins/shepard DOT check date is only from last week!!!! i had heard we were getting new trailers, but honestly, i kinda just assumed they would be "new" in the same way our ex-knight trucks are "new".... nope... the Conover yard has a BUNCH of new trailers in it...
Maybe now we can start getting rid of some of the old ones we have... Lol.
Kinda makes me wonder if we are going to start getting actual new trucks someday.... -
spiritwolf, must be keeping busy
-
Update...
Lol, Yeah, I was keeping as busy as they would let me be. Ran about 7000 miles in the 1st 15 days of December.
On hometime now for the holidays, until Jan 2.
Hmmm.... broker loads... Interesting things they are. I dont much like working for some brokers.. Some have been really cool to work with, Like Coyote.
Others..... Not so... this last load was with one of the pain in the rear ones.. They gave me an 11am to 2pm delivery window.
So, I arrived at 12:15pm.... and my load was refused by the consignee because it was late. Apparently I had a delivery appointment of 11am. Since I started this, I have NEVER been late with a delivery.. Pushed the window a few times due to traffic or weather, but never "late".... So being insulted by an extremely rude "person" at the consignee for being "late" annoyed the heck out of me..
This is the second time this particular broker has gotten me.. The last time It took me 3 hours to find the shipper due to incomplete information. It was a HUGE complex, without company names on the buildings, and the broker didnt give me the right suite number.
Then wouldn't answer the phone when called... nice...
Eh.... life goes on... lol.
Anyway. Enjoying a bit of time with the family before heading back out. -
Have any of u guys ever had a furn stop on bourbon street in New Orleans?i have 1 for thurs morn, just wondering how tight or difficult it mite be?
-
Just looked it upon google maps. Not sure where the store is but it looks like its going to be a street delivery anywhere along that road. Looks very tight
wareagle2011 Thanks this. -
yea, people like to park there cars on both sides of the street down there........
-
gotta call drops first, saves a lot of trouble. seriously.
even moreso with broker loads.
I had one broker load... LTL deal in TX oilfields. None of the 3 drops had any addresses. I got up to first drop, called, looking for directions. Umm, no... they were closed that day, and weren't receiving till next week (4 days away).
So, ya, call rvcr as soon as you can, don't wait!

well, heres an update on that bourbon st. delivery i had.i called customer and it was a hotel,he gave me an adress of side street where the garage was located,i asked if other trucks have come in there and he said sure,no problem, lol what a mistake, when i was a few minutes away from hotel,i called and said wait outside for me.i stopped and had 4 chairs out and signed for in under 5 mins.3 or 4 cars behind me waiting, when i got back in my truck,i noticed street i was on was blocked on other side of bourbon, could'nt turn left or go straight, wtf,so i called 911 and told oper that i could'nt move, now theres about 12 cars behind me,honking horns of course.the cops arrived and informed me no trucks were allowed down there,no #$&^,at first they tried to unblock the street across but the road was too messed up from construction,so next they had all the cars behind me either turn around or back up,then they had me back up 3 blocks to a street i could turn on,WHAT A MESS.
I have had my cdl for 5 months now,all with w/s,oh well,live and learn.luckily i did'nt get a ticket.hup Thanks this.
