It also could be something wrong with your air drier or air compressor unloader ...

    Meho1969 Thanks this.

Yes it holds the right PSI that the air governor is set on. which on this new one is 110, on the original one was set at 125. I have replaced the filter on the air dryer and the purge valve, but my mechanic said there was some dried oil and stuff in the base of the dryer. Maybe I should replace the air dryer.

I have tried to check the unloader but on my Volvo, since it is a Volvo Air Compressor the unloader is in the actual compressor so there is no way for me to check if except to replace the whole thing...

ok, you can buy a rebuild kit for valve on dryer takes about 1hr to do(easy fix) also you can disconnect dryer by going to lowes or plumbing supply and buying a threded pipe connector, remove 2 lines on dryer and put pipe connector between lines until you fix dryer or get new one, just remember to bleed air tanks every 2 days

Are you getting knocking, oil in air lines, heavy water in tanks, etc?

Are you purging and air starts to drop off and then builds again? If so, your compressor and unloader valve are good.

Get a Bendix brand governor set for 130 psi or adjust to 130 using a screw driver and 7/16" wrench. They fail less.

I responded to another thread explaining on what to check on the air drier. Yours should be a Meritor drier since you have a Volvo. Spin the filter off and see if air is leaking in that plastic tab in the middle of the thread where the drier spins on. If it is leaking with truck off, change that tab. They will ask you if part ends with a 1 or 2. You want the one that ends with a 2. It is also considered the right valve. That is because Volvo and Mack use dual driers on a lot of their equipment and use the same parts for both single and dual. Most likely that is your problem, or a leak in the air line, or a plugged air drier filter. Compressors do go bad, but much more rare than the drier does. I might change a air compressor once every 3 to 4 months, but do air drier parts almost daily.

There is noo knocking, no oil in my air lines, no water in the tanks, none of that good stuff... When it purges it dropps the pressure off and then it does build again, my only issue is that it constantly purges and it can get very annoying when you try to sleep. I will check out the dryer today and come back to report.... I am so fed up with this problem because to me it seems like it might be something small but its making me go insane.

We have some reman air compressors which the company is willing to sell, as we've reduced our Mack inventory greatly. I'm still sorting through it all to see if they have that part number. We don't run anything Volvo.
I called some of our suppliers, and they don't have anything at a better price than what you were quoted, unfortunately. I'll keep my ear to the ground, though.
