PAM Good or Bad

How is your home time? If I can get home ever 2 weeks that would be nice.

Also, after C1 - is PAM flexible about when you head out with your trainer? My wife is due in 7 weeks and I am trying to get my training done before the birth and to get on the road after he is born.

 

home time is usually figured at 1 day off for every week out and generally you need at least 3 weeks out before you get home time. With me once I was done with C-1 I went home and had to call in to pam to get my training set up. When I called they asked me when I would be ready to go out, I was eager to go so I said as soon as you get a trainer close by

 

Thanks jezter5677. Sorry to keep bugging you but there are very few who have answered questions about PAM besides saying "stay away, etc." 3 weeks, huh? Not good but not bad for a newbie. I did speak with my driver agent this morning and he said they could try to schedule me to get home for the birth in between school and hitting the road with the trainer but I decided to put that off until after he is born, unless I go another route.

 

As a father, I gotta say be there for the birth, if its your first one there is nothing to describe the site of your newborn and the feelings that go with it, congratulations. Trust me you are not bothering me with the questions, I'm happy to answer any thing I can. You are going to get the "stay away" comments no matter what company you ask about, there are always disgruntled employees at every company.

On another note, I just noticed your from Jasper, I lived in that area for a couple of years after my first was born, Blairsville to be exact.

 

Thanks, yeah I'm not missing that for nothing. It's gonna be hard enough to leave after he's born. I have a 5 year old son but we adopted him when he was 3 and we missed out on his birth so this is all new to us!

Yeah, I got the same impression when asking about companies. Blairsville isn't too far from here, just straight up 515 thru Ellijay & Blue Ridge. Whereabouts do you live now? I was born & raised here but if I weren't going into trucking, I definitely would think about moving somewhere else to look for work.

Why is the poll out of service?

Well I've been with PAM since I started this industry & I've noticed it going real bad for about 6 months now. At first they never had a problem getting u home, now its like telling them to go screw themselves. Other than that it seems as though they have a very flawed system of dispatching the next load cause it usually takes anywhere from an hour to 4 hours for your next dispatch. There was a brief period of time though when I would get them pretty quickly in that 6 month time period so I thought that there was greener pastures ahead. By nature I'm a very patient person so waiting doesnt bother me, but ever since I did my time and finished my contract all I can think of is what else is out there. So...I suppose what I'm saying is for a newbie is PAM good? Only if you are patient.. PAM has a lot of good things but like I've said before making money is not one of them. Don't expect that 40,000 they promise cause u r at the mercy of a broken dispatch system. Hopefully they'll get it fixed before its not too late ... This business depends on keeping the truck moving; so if the individuals responsible for keeping those wheels turning can't keep up with the all their drivers then their doom is inevitable. Maybe they need more dispatchers... Maybe its just MY dispatcher since I've met a few other drivers with the same complaint. One undeniable fact is that turnover is thru the roof here in PAM ... And the drivers I've met with 5,6,7 yrs all seem to have been grandfathered in thru old companies PAM bought out merely staying for the benefits.

Anyway let me get back on topic, newbies look at ure options. If u were in a situation like I was when I first started then u really don't have a choice, but if u do have a choice, choose wisely. READ. ASK. Good Luck

Who u driving for Noggin? I am definitely searching for a better option. It doesn't look like PAMela values their safe and responsible drivers too much...
