I learned something new last week.
When I t-called my load in Phoenix the person at the t-call window handed me back a copy of my scale ticket. I said "Don't need it, I'm an O/O". To which she replied "You supposed to get reimbursed as it's a Swift requirement". So I scanned the scale ticket and I actually got reimbursed for it! When I tried doing this several months ago I got nothing, glad to know it's changed. It's ONLY $10.00, but I'll take it.

Steve, when Swift is saying that it is a requirement, we are supposed to get our money back. I have when t-called, but never when going into CA
-
#1. your not an owner operator. your a renter operator. you'll never own that truck.
is there anywhere in that lease agreement that says you will own the truck?
#2. what does that have to do with you haveing a scale ticket. even TRUE owner operators scale there loads. -
To T-call a load at the Phoenix terminal, it is a requirement to present a scale ticket with the BOL's, actually to T-call any load at a terminal....it used to be on the dispatch window....and if you read your drivers manual, you will find that any load you scale, turn in your scale ticket with your other paperwork, you will get reimbursed, even as a L/O or O/O....READ YOUR DRIVERS MANUAL!

Snowy....you don't know what your spouting on about...again!
Yes it is in there..."at the end of the lease term, Contractor has the option of turning in the equipment and entering a new lease, or, paying the balloon amount (as spelled out at the beginning of the original lease) however, IEL (Swift) will not finance the buy out. Contractor can arrange financing through an outside agency."
L/O and O/O get reimbursed for scaling loads...OP was not informed or did not read his contract/drivers manual.......New story, right? -
I figured someone would kindly point that out....but of course that wasn't the point of this thread.
Many guys call themselves O/O and they don't own a dam thing.
I installed an Air Weigh system on my tractor and trailer and only use a CAT scale a few times a year to keep sure that
it's calibrated. It accuracy is close enough for me. If I feel I am over, then I might hit a CAT scale, but so far most of
the loads I ran for 2012 were light.... -

how much is that AirWeigh system installed? -
Installed? No idea what that might cost...few hrs of labor at a minimum.
I bought the kit and installed it myself.
I think it lists for around $1k but sells for around $850 or so.
If your a Landstar BCO or have a contract number with Landstar (like I do) there is a really aggressive discount.
Installation was a piece of cake, as long as your mechanically inclined and dont mind getting really greasy running the air lines. I offered to do the install on my buddies rig if he opts to purchase the system.
I modified the installation as I didnt like the way they do it.
I shared my design with Air Weigh and they felt it was a good idea to do what I did but wont include extra parts in their kit due to additional costs.
Additional costs? - $20 or so at NAPA.EZX1100 Thanks this. -
thanks....

Sure they do.....they own the debt by signing the lease contract! If you rent something, you can turn it in and not owe any more than the rental for the time you had it, then walk away not owing a dime!
Swift L/O and/or O/O don't have that option to modify a trailer...they are drop/hook 80%+ of the time. Plus, they don't have the authority to even put the system on truck only...not that that would really help.
