They aren't faster then me ;) haha! Not that I speed, I just cruise at 65 anyways if speed limit allows for it. But being able to go speed limit to get momentum to climb a hill is awesome.

Noticed that too. Think they are governed 57-58 on Pedal and 61 on cruise. Or maybe vice versa.

They run that slow for saving fuel by choice since most are lease purchase drivers. I have been passed by them when they're in a rush though

My buddy that works at prime said the training trucks are governed to 62. The lightweight trucks with the little sleepers are cut back to 58. He gets 8.5mpg average in his cascadia. He's not a lease op, but he runs 60, gets a fuel bonus worth driving a little slower

I talked to a Prime driver a few months ago who told me that he has to keep his RPM's in a certain range. He said that's why Prime goes so slow. Not governed slow, but they have to keep their RPM's down and in that range he goes about 58 mph on the flats.

I can understand wanting to limit speed to increase MPG, but not allowing a higher speed going downhill is absurd. Perhaps they can connect governor to a gyroscope and take advantage of gravity to allow faster speed downhill without much effect on MPG.

Question from newbie: Hubby rolled thru PA today, a lot of slow driving with his trainer, and in the end the computer reported he was 30% of the time speeding. He is very cautious about what he does, and made sure never to go past 60 MPH all day. How does the computer calculate that he is speeding? Is it watching RPMs instead and when he is trying to get up the hills?

PA, aka PennSLOWvania, has a lot of <60 areas on the interstates. For instance, I-70 from WV to New Stanton/I-76 (exit 58) is all 55 or lower, though most everyone runs it 60+. Cops don't bother anyone doing under 70. There's a stretch of the PA turnpike (I-76) north of Pittsburgh that's 55, with the same result.

If Hubby was rolling traffic speed (even right lane), that 30% speeding sounds about right.

So is it a concern to have 30%, or what percent gets you kicked out the door? What percentage range do most drivers have? He thought he was doing okby going under the speed limit on I-80 while everyone else was flying by, but after seeing 30% it worried him. He likes to be by the rules and follow the guidelines.
