Dude, you're acting like the stuff can't be put back on once it's been taken off. I could have my deleted ISX compliant in an afternoon if need be.
-
Ok, laugh all you want for now. Those transactions are totally illegal. There are crooked sellers everywhere. As for now, it is still happening under the radar, like I already said,(weak no enforcement). The day will come...

Daf....... Does your truck have a dpf on it? Does it blow black smoke? I'll bet the answer to both questions is no.
I don't know what happened on that stop... But it sounds like a piece of junk LTL truck that needs some work. Not a delete truck.Last edited: Dec 26, 2012

Not everyone keeps their old parts... dude! What do you do with a drilled out DOC and DPF? Ever price them out? Not cheap. Some guys are removing the egr valve and installing the blocking plate and down grading the turbo to an old school one. How much are turbos and egr valves to replace if you get rid of them? If you don't have the parts, you are looking at around $8000 or more. Anything can be done. I doubt delete kits are only a couple hundred bucks to have done and only a couple hundred more to have reversed!

As far as ECM tuning goes, the tune had better "simulate" a forced regen when I plug into it and command one, if not, that is a dead give away.
-
LOL! EGR valves, turbos, DOC's and DPF's aren't cheap allright! Just ask the guys who have to repeatedly replace them!
My point is that unless you only get to operate for 12 months or less with a delete, the fuel and maintenance savings will pay for the delete, as well as any costs to revert back *IF* you ever need to.
Why is it I onlyhear the evils and pitfalls of emissions deletes from techs??? Could it be that they allow a truck to stay out of the shop and on the road??? Emission control systems are the gift that keeps on giving to you guys. I could see why it would be hard to give that up
gokiddogo, DrtyDiesel, prenn and 1 other person Thank this. -
I talked to a guy today that has a 2010 Pete 389 with the CAT engine. Had the DPF's taken off and hasn't been in the shop once since he took them off. Warranty doesn't pay the bills for downtime.
I'm 110% all for deleting the emissions crap. If it were me, i would replace the DPF, turn off the EGR, and deactivate DEF. Keep everything at my shop and put it back on when the time for trade in comes. Or just sell it privately to another driver.
Ain't much stopping anyone from putting a different plate on the engine to show it as an older one. For instance, putting a plate on the engine saying it was made in 2002 rather than 2012?? -
If you just take a snapshot of the ECM you can't see it.Which was my point. Forcing a regen would be a problem. Need dealer to do that , enforcement can't . Lots of ways to see if truck is deleted, cops looking on your ECM ain't one of them!

Cat,my point wasn't so much about the LTL truck but the information he got in the talking to those 2 "inspectors".
1°Everybody is focusing on California but this was Nevada.
I have to say it surprised me that in Nevada they were doing things like that.
2°They carry the computer to check ECM's with a technician to inspect the engine and ECM.
Which means they have had training.
The driver did have to open the hood and the technician did inspect the engine.
This means they are taking things to a higher level.
Do i know how much chance anyone has off getting fined for changing their engine?
No i don't.
I just passed on some info that might be interesthing.
ps no,my engine doesn't smoke but then it does have DEF without EGR.(100% legal)
Moving on Down the Road, Cat sdp and ConcreteCowboy Thank this.
