I hope everyone's enjoyed Christmas at home, and those of you that stayed out on the road I hope you did it safely.
I'll be coming back out tomorrow I will be hitting Ready For Dispatch at 0630 Central Time 0730 my time. It will be a refreshment to have a fresh 70 hour clock and be ready to run as hard as safely possible. I will have to get a B service in about 7700 miles but I need some things fixed so hopefully that won't slow me down but so long.
I really look forward to starting fresh this new year putting down miles, and learning a lot more about this industry. It's pretty amazing that after six weeks I can finally not freak out every time the Qualcomm goes off with a new load, or worry about what kind of backing situation i'm going to be in at the shipper/ receiver or truck stop. Either way it has to get in the hole without hitting anything!!

Here's a question that I haven't seen asked by a newbie like myself, until now. Let's start by saying, as some of you know in some of my recent posts, I got to experience the life of a trucker last week, when I was invited to go OTR with a friend of mine. If any of you are like myself, that live paycheck to paycheck, knowing full well it can turn expensive eating at truck stops or other restaurants. What I would like to ask, is how many of you guys cook in your truck, Baritone of which I know does by his videos, but does Millis allow you to do so, do most of the trainers allow their trainees to do so or vice versa. I'm asking this because I know there are quite a few 12 volt cooking appliances out there, one of which I became familiar with while out there was Roadpros portable stove, which I must say cooks one hell of a baked chicken in an hour and half. I am just curious, due to the fact when I was out there for that week, I packed quite well food wise and spent very little money and ate very well.

I'm regional and don't cook on the truck but I do keep dry and canned food on the truck and have gone all week before eating only what's on the truck. I know regional guys who do cook and quite a few otr guys who cook. It's allowed and they have refrigerators on the trucks. Regional guys get plug in coolers. Normally I spend between $10-15 per day buying food and I need my fresh coffee in the morning!fzoo70 Thanks this.

Btw you can get a big enough inverter that plugs in that will run a crock pot but if you want a microwave you need the installed inverter
fzoo70 Thanks this. -
I rarely eat out. The only time I do is when I see another driver or two, or a special occasion. It is possible to eat like a king on the road, which I would like to say modestly as possible "I do" I spend about 100 bucks a month on groceries.
I would also like to add that it shouldn.t take you very long to not have to live paycheck to paycheck depending on your circumstances and discipline. Good luck!fzoo70 Thanks this. -
Speaking of baritone, he hasnt chimed in for a while, not even a video.

Picked up at GP in Big Island VA yesterday and I am at this Valero truckstop on US35 in Ohio headed to Circleville OH for a noon appointment. Feels great to be back on the road.
-
Delivered in Circleville then picked up a beer load in Trenton headed to Eden terminal. Back at the Valero truckstop for the night again. Cant leave for another 2.5 hours but woke up and looked outside to see a.couple.inches of snow and still steadily coming down.
-
had another truck driver say that i was disgracing our company because my tandems were too far back. I had them where i needed them to be ok on weight and i was not going by any scales. not to mention he told me this about 50 miles from trenton. I was like thanks man but i am just headed to my terminal and there is no scales between here and there. and he was like. Thats how these drivers are these days...you give them a chance to fix something and they just ignore you... no wonder your csa scores suck. So i said cool how about you pull over and whip out your tape measure and check it for me while i stay inside the cab in this snow storm. all the while he is driving with no lights on with less than desirable conditions outside.
