I del in madison MS thurs. I got there at 4.00 pm and had 1 hour left to drive. They had sent me a message saying freight was slow down there. I went to a truck stop. The next am they sent me a ld 75 miles south that did not pic till 5 pm that night. I went on down there and the shipper loaded me early and I came home with it. I get home every weekend. I have not got in twice in 6 months. 3 actually, but one of those times I requested hometime in another state for that weekend. We are payed layover pay and detention pay. I had 1 load that I had to wait 6 hours to load and 6 hours to unload and the run was only 250 miles. If you are stranded out and don't have a load they will pay you 800 miles to sit there and do your restart.

I have come home empty twice. Both times was to get me home. One for my daughter's surgery. The other time was to get me home for Thanksgiving. I drop my trailer and park my truck at the house. They load me towards the house on Fridays. I deliver it the next week.

I know this is a stupid question,do you drop your trailer at the yard where your taking your load from,or get your load on friday, then drop the trailer at(whatever location you use),then on sunday or monday,go hook up to your trailer and head to the drop off of your load?

No I drop my trailer near my house. I am 5 hours away from a mav yard. I keep my truck at home so I can clean it out and restock it for the week. I PU my trl when I head out. No stupid questions. That is how you learn. If you don't know just ask.

ok,so basically I have to find a place to drop the trailer if I come home on a Friday or Saturday, then just drive the truck to my house....so I take it there is some kinda lock for the trailer...and I will probably have to pay someone to leave the trailer in there lot...right....:biggrin_25511:

Before you drop a trl you need permission to drop there. We have 2 tarp boxes that you need to lock. You will need a king pin lock for the trl. The headache rack on the truck has 3 padlocks on it. I don't pay to drop mine. I have a back up plan if there is no room to park. In trucking you always need to plan ahead.
