You mean you might actually have to work to make a decent living today? Everyone with the BS comments here either never worked for JB Hunt or were employed by them and didn't want to work. I just started a couple months ago for a DCS account myself and I'm making more than the advertised average for the account I work for by about 15-20%. I do work my ### off for it, though. I get miles plus stop (every stop) plus unload by weight (averages to about $30-35 an hour for me and I'm one of the slower guys. Other guys average more). I'm home extremely often from every night to every couple nights and at least one day a week. Hell, I'm even being paid a decent holiday wage while I'm at home typing this. I could've had 4 days off for Christmas, but I volunteered for another account that needed help over the weekend doing a quick run to Phoenix and back. Want to work, make a decent living, don't, well, don't.

If they are advertising 65000 a year you can probably beat it I have been working for them a year they have taken care of me and made sure I made all my wife's doctors appointments . I understand why some people are angry at jb they will fail you and send you home if you can't drive to minimum basic standards you will have to pass a physical and drug tests they expect you to already know how to drive a truck before they hire you and on my account you. have to pass and demonstrate close quarters backing as well but it is a good company I have driven for all small companies before and I am happy working for them the pay is high to starting pay were I am is 63000 a year and a lot of the guys.have no trouble beating that .

JB Hunt at East Brunswick, NJ is hiring and it's near where I live, offer local job, be home daily. But I've heard a lot negative about JB Hunt so I didn't apply for the job. FYI it was on central craigslist.

I didn't think about the physical and backing stuff. The physical itself was a typical one, but the stress test was one of the hardest I've ever done and the requirements are based on what account you're working on. Can't pass that and you're done. Same with basic driving and backing skills, I didn't find their close quarter backing test to bad to get thru and I understand why they have it. Some of the places you have to get into are terrible going in forward.

I didn't think I'd ever drive for them myself. A local came up in my area and I wasn't going to apply, but in the end, and at least for now, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be. The account I'm on doesn't even feel like you're working for a big company with a few exceptions of following some company policies (if you're a good driver anyway, none of their policies will bother you) and the trucks do go slow.

Actually kinda funny. I've met a few other JBH drivers on the road working for various accounts and every one of them has said the same thing, never thought I'd be working for these guys, but I'm glad I am. Met a guy the other night that had worked for big and small companies alike, said he hadn't been treated better by anyone else and never made this kind of money anywhere consistently. Been here a couple years on a DCS out of Dallas if I remember correctly.

I hate making more than the average pay advertised for my account. I also can't stand being home really often. Can you hear the sarcasm?

Never been told I can be replaced, although this is a reality of life anywhere you work and in any industry. I keep getting thanked for doing a good job, though. Terrible thing, eh?

I haven't found this to be true, quite the opposite. However, the yards can be cramped. The office staff I work with have been wonderful to work with.

Well the physical test is mostly based on lifting and everyone has to do the stair steping.excercise I am 30 years old and built so the lifting part was not a problem I went ahead and qualified to the level above what was.necesary for even family dollar then when I got to the account had to do another week with the trainer who has the final say on weather or not you get hired and my trainer worked me hard for understandable reasons its the toughest account in the company its also the highest paying you do earn your money on fd .I used to say I would never work at jb because at one time their drivers sucked I have helped them in the past in doing simple backing because I was afraid they were going to hit my. nice kw at that time . But things have changed they are one of the best companies to work for

Only bad thing I can really say about JB is from witnessing the idiots in the rail yards. Those guys would fly around all over the place. Course, that's what happens when you pay cpm on intermodal work. I wouldn't work for it unless it was a yard dedicated to my company that I knew I could get in and out in 30 minutes or less. I did have a friend working for them and he said he liked it. We had both been with Marten doing the same thing, pulling loads out of railyards, and he actually liked JB better. So take that for what it's worth.
