Is the cab metal? Would a mag mount with the coax ran thru the door be out of question?

I've done this in a pinch and it worked ok. I never have had any faith in glass mount antennas.

how do you like the D700? Can you do cross-band repeat with it?

I have the 480SAT and looking to couple it with a D710.

Would like to also have crossband repeat for using with an HT.

Be very careful with the on-glass mounts. Most vehicle windows these days are tinted, and a lot of those tinted windows are passivated, which means there's metal particles in the glass. Passivated glass will really screw with the capacitive coupling.

Yes you can cross band repeat with the D700, but I have never used that feature. I usually have it running APRS on the A side and 2m simplex or a local repeater on the B side, unless I am bouncing signals off the space station as it goes by.

on a side note, right now there are 3 Uniden Hr2510 radios converted for 11 meter for sale right now on ebay. you all better jump on those. the president has got to be one of the best all around 10 and 11 meter radios ever made for the money. and they DO NOT show up on ebay very often.

I sold a very good one that I should have held onto. I had added a variable power knob, rewired the mic so the radio powered my D-104, added a normal jack for an external speaker, and added a power receptacle compatible with the Cobra/Galaxy radios....or rather my technician friend did all this for me. Why did I sell it????????:banghead::smt088:smt102:hmph:

Below is its replacement, now I just need to get my base station set up again so I can see how it works out. (have the matching power supply also)
