Chaining tires question

Yes it'll work fine. Obviously won't give you total scratch power, but enough to get you going out of a bind to a safe spot.

 

may want to run your power divider just for extra help. as your normal drive power comes from the right front. lock in the divider and now you've got the left rear. unless your in a predicament otherwise as far as the power drives go.

 

The rear diff interlock prevents one wheel on one axle from spinning and causing a loss of drive.
With the lock engaged one wheel on each axle must spin to loose drive.

 

I adjusted my half fenders up to allow the tire chains enough room to rise off the tire some at speed (25-35).
If your just stuck on flat ground, like in the truck stop, then one single on each outer wheel on rear drive axle will be fine. You may need to remove the flaps or, if spring type flaps, angle them out 45 degrees. But if you're on Vail in CO, or Donner in CA, be ready to chain according to the law. The tickets are pretty high. OOIDA has the chain requirements listed in one place on their site. You'll need to have just 4 singles in CO, but WA, OR, CA you need 3 railers for the front drive, 2 singles for the rear drive, 2 singles for the trailer, plus an extra bag of singles in case you might lose any.

Your boss don't know anything about running West, if he thinks its always best to park it. Chaining up to get over Donner could be very necessary vs. sitting a week waiting for snow to melt.

 

Can you dump the airbags with your fenders on without rubbing? If you can, you should have enough room for the chains to clear the fenders.

 

you can chain the rear axle. any time you are only throwing one axle and not both you have to put the power divider in to do you any good otherwise you will just spin on your unchained axle

 

Your right rear corner is the one that drives. If you are only chaining one drive axle it should be the rear, although I have seen some people chain right rear/left front. I agree with EZRider about using the power divider. I believe CA no longer requires 3 railers for maximum chain levels as of last year. I carry 3 sets of singles.
