With Crete, you can go Regional or National. Your choice.

 

Trainees can be trained just as good at companies that have flexible training, not the cookie cutter training some use to save money.

If it was all about safety, and not money, then why not pay those drivers a descent wage while they are training. $400 a week? for 2 months works out to around $5.71 per hour

Student Pay Scales
After successful completion of a Crete recognized truck driving school, or equivalent .
Then all students will be assigned a Crete certified driving/training instructor and complete an
8 week O.J.T. ( On the Job Training Program )
Upon successful completion of the 8 week On the Job Training Program, the student will be
assigned a tractor, and begin receiving mileage pay at the rates listed below.
National
Weeks 1 through 8 $400 per week ( Training Period )
Weeks 9 through 52 31 cents per miles
Paid miles adjustment 1 cent increase **
13th - 24th Month 36 cents per mile​

There are companies that will not have you making peanuts for a year before they reward you for your hard work and being away from home most of the time.​

Crete is not a bad company for experienced drivers, but like many, want to work you cheaply for to long as a new driver. Their betting you won't make it a year which is why they have the big increase after 13 months.​

A new driver should find a carrier with more consistent pay increases and and a flexible training schedule. ​

 

Your numbers are off. Training is $500 a week and you start at $.34 a mile. It goes up to $.41 a mile at 1 year.

The guy I know that runs for Crete drives 48 and has to stay out a month at a time. I asked him why it says 14-18 days and he says he has never been able to get routed home that soon living in WA state. The regional fleet pays 5 cents less and you only do a restart every 2 weeks and they want you back out so he went 48.

Their dedicated board is all east or midwest so I guess their out for me. I drove OTR for many years but no amount of money will get me doing that again. Happy Trucking.

 

I know they have Wal-Mart dedicated in Nebraska because that's where my husband did his 2nd half of training. That is the Schafer division, though (reefer). Worth checking into if you're interested.

 

I realize this thread is 7 years old but find it interesting that the biggest turnover supposedly, among Crete drivers are those newly hired coming into the industry but they haven't changed anything in 7 years.
