Out of curiosity, what percentage of loads do you decline based on your 'stinky broker' criteria?

Actually that is not something I have been logging in my "journal" so I will have to get back to you on that.

    Hmm... Interesting.

As adamant as you are about screening brokers that you use, one would conclude that you're also as diligent at record keeping. Somehow your credibility unravels here. I'd expect that you could come up with a rough guesstimate upon request.

It's at this point that I call 'Bull Shop'.

Actually, the only change to my registered name on my authority was adding "Inc." to the end of it, and adding the exact same name without the "Inc." as a d/b/a. I was never registered as my personal name in the first place. Everything else was unchanged, including ownership. 100% transparent and deliberately formed in a way to eliminate any hint of fraudulent intent, yet still got plenty of scrutiny.

If someone were to do as you suggest, they'd still be required to file a name change for a new d/b/a to be legal. If you're dealing with a fraud, it's not a surprise that they wouldn't do the required filing.

I'd be inclined to put more weight on the credit history versus the fact the authority is issued to a person with a d/b/a. I don't disagree that the latter is worth a closer look. Taking that to indicate criminal intent is a stretch though.

Its definitely NOT the only thing that I look at. You have to look at as much as you can and then make a decision based on the time yo have. Credit history is a big one, but there is a lag on the reporting of credit problems. What ELEETS did is a perfect example of a calculated and malicious way to bail out and go under. They were booking loads right up until the DAY before they announced they were closing their doors.

This new broker bond requirement will most likely prompt some others to get bitter with the system and do the same thing and leave the carriers and the shippers holding the bag for the freight charges.

I'm not entirely sure that they saw it coming. The bank yanked their LOC. I'm not defending them, but it seems they got a bit aggressive with their growth and it came back to bite them.

I am not associated in any way with this company direclty, but I have used their services in the past.

It's unfortunate that at the same time Gunz was posting comments denigrating the staff at TTR, the very same staff was working to get this thread cleaned up so that it could go back up just because so many of you were requesting it.

RedForeman, LSAgentOZR and BigBadBill Thank this.
