Sad to hear about that been driving up and down it for most of my life. Cabbage hill got it's name from a cabbage garden on top the hill at one point. I've also heard it called emigrant hill and deadman's pass.

I like that run in the summer, and going down cabbage don't bother me, low and slow. But this is truly sad. My first trip in a truck down cabbage, a driver lost control and went over the edge about 2 days before.

For many years I had heard guys talk about "running Cabbage". I knew they meant a mountain grade somewhere, but assumed since I'd never seen signs saying I was there, that I had indeed never been there. Then heard someone mention to a newer driver where it was, and I realized I'd "run Cabbage" a number of times. Don't know it's official name, but I certainly don't ever remember seeing signs out there calling it "cabbage".

My first time down was in the winter in extremely heavy fog. Could only see about 15 feet.

Love going down in the summer. Feels like you are flying.

i havent been out there in a few years

cabbage is rough on a good day, i had to sit for a few days because it was closed except for chaining

sorry to hear that so many lost their lives

its one thing, if you are driving and you lose control and you die, but imagine being a passenger and the bus driver loses control and you die

an experienced bus driver should have known how to maneuver around cabbage, maybe this was his first time, or first ice
