So you delete the DPF's.....What about the EGR's or the SCR's?

    Anything for those?

Usually when one refers to a delete, they are talking about a full EGR, DPF, and SCR delete. I can't speak for the Detroit's or PACCAR's with authority, but I can confidently say the current ISX15 and DPF Caterpillar's are able to have all systems removed from them.

The other side of the pond has DEF, cleaner diesel for they oxygenate the fuel, run tighter compressions, etc. We are more trying to march up to their emissions

You drive through St. George all the time. Just whip into PDI and relieve yourself of SCR, DPF, EGR and VVT. Oh, and that 6 months worth of truck payments you have saved in the bank? Uhh ... will be gone when you leave.

So, if there is a market for guys looking to put a 2002 plate on their engine, then would there be a market for guys with 2012 plates to sell? If so there are plenty of people buying cans of yellow paint to make CARB happy by retrofitting "new" engines in old trucks...

**hmmm, where do I put a "functional DPF" on an '81 359?**

    California here I come!

Here lies the problem with that. CARB officers are trained to look at ECM program numbers and they have a chart that tells them which program is for which year and how to "test" the engine to see if it is compliant. Schools, like the one I went to, are full of DOT officers getting the same training as I am to look for these things. There is a 4" three ring binder given that is full of steps on what to check and how to do it. You can put whatever label you want on it and they'll figure it out.

California is hiring techs to do DOT inspections to check out equipment. I got an email last month of a recruiting opportunity where they offered to pay moving expenses and provide a good benefit package. If the pay wasn't so low ($48300/year) I would have jumped on it. Now think of those techs that don't make that and received so much garbage from the drivers when working on the equipment. Those guys will be gunning for you.

Another note, yes it is legal fir a EPA certified officer to connect to your truck's ECM and test, as long as it is only for that purpose. You can thank the EPA bill passed in 2004 for that one. My company just lost that battle and ended up paying almost $1 million, yes you read right, and ended up selling the company to a North American company (it was French owned) to get out of the fines and now we are the largest company of this type in the world. We are getting rid of all our diesel powered vehicles and going to CNG powered in the next 5 years as part of the deal. Wake up call will be after they pick on all the large companies and they have no one left to pick on...

Mine is coming off anyway. To hell with California if that must be the case. If they are going to force this technology where people all around the world are drilling holes through their DPFs in order to prevent such high back pressure which WILL kill the turbo (s), force soot all through the motor and into the oil, slowly choke the engine to death. I am all for cleaning the air and all that, but don't force me into equipment that isn't half of what previous models reliability is. Perhaps whoever is going to pay the even higher freight bills to haul in/out of that state will make some noise on the issue. California is the first state, in my eyes, that is openly trying to regulate itself right out of business.
