oh boy! you two haven't seen nothing yet. if that little day has you worked up. You just stick around and you'll learn real fast why so many OTR companies have driver "shortage" concerns.

Right on ! What A worthless piece of annoying distraction ! Have some clueless kid in dispatch yelling " you're going the wrong way " , off route ! , when you backtrack to get fuel after finding the pumps are down at your first choice stop , and you're running on fumes due to dispatch's failure to " load " your fuel card. Or " why are you not rolling " ? as you wait an hour to fuel , again , no money on comdata card. Driving directions that are wrong.......somebody forgot the Interstate spur that lies between you and your delivery point. I had New Jersey Police actually lead me to the lousy grocery warehouse or who knows when I would have found it.I was late , missed my appointment and waited 4 days to get unloaded. The thing Quit working in Quebec , totally out of contact ; even the cell phone lost signal. ? .......Rand McNally and paper logs......reminded me of " John Candy and trains , plains , boats"..........YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY ! " They don't even know where we're going " ! Qualcom = A mighty leaky vessel to be placing one's trust in ! On an upbeat note , had A trooper ask to see my HOS records . I gave him the qualcom tutorial and relinquished the driver's seat. He looked at it , asked me if I was legal and said he would take my word for it ! He didn't want me to show him how to do it either.

Hubby & I are lease operators as well, but our company will pay hotel expenses and breakdown pay if we breakdown. We spent a week in Birmingham, AL when the 'pick-up tubes' on our first T700 cracked.

As much as you look here for support your husband looks at YOU for support. Sit back and take a deep breath and relax. Work with him and give constructive criticism. Do not complain about not making any money, believe me he knows that. Try to encourage him to find a way to help the repairs. Talking friendly with the boss helps sometimes. The company wants the trucks on the road but remember those mechanics are usally overworked and burnt out. Sometimes a litle gift like coffee and donuts in the morning goes along ways. Anyway you look at it if a driver is rude to the shop 9 times out of 10 he'll be the last one out. I not saying he did that I'm only pointing out what some have done. Make sure he keeps all the records of breakdowns and hold ups. You can help him there too. I documented everything and if I didn't need it then I tossed it. Good luck and as time goes by he'll build a reputation and you want that to work in your favor.

If the truck rolls then all else can be scheduled for repair later on down the road. If you are spending all your time waiting for every single little thing to be fixed on your truck you aren't going to go anywhere! Paper logs, sweet! Couldn't ask for a better deal! Take advantage of it while he can!
